Stocks should have run out a while ago of the old product.

that's a pretty good question.
(on bottles and cans it's easy enough to be safe by checking the made/ born on date) I'd leave it a while yet myself though.

do you perchance have a link to where it says they are now vegan?

Frank
Nov 18th, 2008, 12:24 AM
No I don't have a link.

I do have a copy of their confirmation though. As some people may say - straight from the horses mouth....

bradders

could we see it. Ah stella, I did used to like that stuff.

Frank

No.

I cannot show that without asking the permission from the recipient.

Trust me. Its 100%.

If Stella are lying - I will sue them for fish contamination

I assure you that Frank's word can be trusted.

Anyway, that is mental. I never expected Wife Beater to be vegan. I still won't buy it though (except in an emergency). Looks very gassy to me.

Anyway, is it vegan in all forms, Frank? I.e. draught, cans, bottles?

And what about the rest of the '... Artois' range? Or is it just Stella, specifically?

Yes.

Waiting to hear back on those.

I'm certain others will fire e-mails into Stella to get confirmation too.

Balls he can, he's the biggest lier I know :p

I haven't had wifebeater in years. I feel a Stella Snakebite session coming on before kick-off these days :D :D

it would be really rather good though because it expands the range of places that have vegan beer on tap

What for - just saying that Stoke will stay up?

Cheeky boys :p

Well done on sourcing this though Frank, and as Bradders said - it's one of the beers that is regularly on tap, so is great for us (although, not for our livers or mental health!).

it's only got marginally more alcohol than bud though

Frosty

Yeah, but it definately does something more to you than Bud. It's like Scrumpy, that is only a wee bit stronger than 'bow, and weaker than Katy, but it has a crazy effect on the brain. There's usually nudity and memory loss in my case :dizzy:

i think that you end up drinking more of it, like scrumpy, goes down so easy you almost forget it's not far off being wine but tastes like really good apple juice.

Well, they ignored the first email I sent them over a week ago but just responded to the one I sent this morning, albeit vaguely.

Dear Mr. Risker

Thank you for your e-mail to the consumer helpline, at InBev UK.

Stella Artois, is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Once again, thank you for contacting InBev UK.

Meantime brewery do some bottles that are labelled vegan. Bought 3 bottles of London Stout for £4 in Sainsbury.

I need to email them and find out if any of the non-labelled stuff is vegan. Really fancy the Christmassy one.

Anyone heard of them? The Stout is ace, btw, very tasty.

Cheers Pob! I might go and buy some of that stout tonight.

They make all the beers in the Sainsburys Taste the Difference range, which are labelled vegan, so there's a good chance that the other stuff is vegan. I want the Porter to be vegan!

I've emailed them.

Dammit. They'd sold out of the stout. Still, I suppose it stops me from drinking on a school night.

I've emailed them to pressure them, too, Pob :D

Got a (very succinct) reply this morning:

"Dear Bryan

All our beers are vegan.

Yours

Peter Haydon

Meantime Brewing Company Ltd"

Hmm... It makes me a bit cautious when their responses are so concise.
