I think I'm gonna make that cake. I'm off work for a week, starting in 34 minutes, so I might have to spend some of it making cakes.

stupid icing wont cool - i had to slice a bit off the top of one cake as it rose to a peak and i want to spread the icing on a flat surface WHEN COOL so meanwhile i'm breaking off bits of the sliced off top and dipping into the runny choc mix......mmmmm

n.b. you may need to alow a good hour or two for the truffle to cool down and get really thick to spread or it will drizzle out and you'll have no filling!

Thanks for this recipe Cedarblue, it really does look gorgeous. I must give it a try. I'm always on the lookout for vegan cake recipes, I couldn't live without vegan cake!

Wow the filling and topping sounds lovely.

Truffle filling and topping
2 bars dark vegan chocolate (such as Green and Blacks), broken up
1 carton of soya cream

I will try that when i next make a chocolate cake. Thanks cedar.

That sounds like ganache! :)

Yes indeed. Be lovely poured over the cake. Adding a little syrup would make it glossy i believe but bit of a sugar overload :D

yes if you pour it over when it is runny it will run right over and off the edge, wont stick at all.

if you let it cool it is like ganache.

got about a quarter of the cake left.........

*edit.....two twelths* , dusts off crumbs ;)

I've made this today ready for tomorrow, but used strawberries instead of raspberries, and I finished it with a drizzle of the Organica vegan white chocolate bar seeing as it's a birthday cake and I wanted it a bit fancy:D

Thanks Cedar, Gorilla and Sprite, hopefully it will taste gooooood!!

I have to say it's been sitting in the fridge calling out to me and is seriously testing my resolve not to eat some before it's actually my birthday.:o :D

mm...i made this (with some modifications) yesterday for my birthday which is today...can't wait to try it.
it doesn't look quite as fancy as poison ivy's i'm afraid :( i just didn't have the patience to decorate properly..also i had to use frozen strawberries (instead of fresh raspberries) which have become kind of soggy by now.
anyway, i'll post a pic later when it's been cut, hoping that the inside is prettier!
also, i must say the idea of using berries is brilliant. i think it would work nicely with very thin slices of pear or orange too! mmmmm :p

wow........i am trying this cake tomorrow, bet it doesnt look this good lol. Two bars of chocolate, nearly fainted so will just do the sponge and do a cream/choc/icing sugar mix middle. Will leave the work of art for someones birthday (ok attempted work of art)

not that pretty, but VERY delicious. i added some walnuts, and i used 3, instead of 2 slabs of chocolate. but that might be because i made a larger amount than the recipe called for
