How come there are so many vegans in Bristol? Couldn't a few of you move up North to balance out the numbers!? I feel all on my own here in Cumbria.

Hi Cherry,
I think Blackpool Vegans sometimes get as far as Cumbria, and aren't so far away from you:
http://www.blackpoolvegans.makessense.co.uk
I bet there are lots nearer you too, you just don't know they are there. How about setting up a local group, starting with a website of info to attract them? Running a group is surprisingly easy with Internet access, all you have to do is set a date and venue and ask people to email you if they are coming (that's what we do at http://www.tvvvs.makessense.co.uk )
Free veggie websites with no technical ability necessary at:
http://www.lvw.makessense.co.uk
(Vegan Bristol uses LVW too)

Thanks Sophie
Blackpool is miles away (am in North Cumbria) but yes, I guess I could try arranging something.
Thank you for the links.

Hi Cherry,
Good luck with arranging your own thing. If you want to become a Vegan Society Local Contact, or just use some of the ideas aimed at them, see the developing website:
http://www.lcat.makessense.co.uk/
we'll be putting some stuff there on the basics of setting up a local group.
Sophie
PS. I had a look at your recipes at your parselysoup site - they look lovely! Couldn't see the kids recipes though - I believe the file needs a .htm or .html extension, which the others have.

Hi again
You know it hadn't crossed my mind before that I could become a vegan contact person. Thanks for the inspiration.
Yes, I'm having a few teething problems transferring website to new software. Quite large portions of it don't work properly, but hopefully it'll be all new and shiny very soon. Summer holidays coming up next week so will be able to spend some time on it.

Hi Cherry,
lovely you might think of becoming a local contact. We'd love you to share your cookery expertise, maybe on the L-CAT website or with a demo! And we can support you in growing a local group.

Just moved to Borders (few miles north of Carlisle) and finding that even veggies are seen as extra weird here!
Cherry, are you far from Carlisle?

Don't suppose there are any groups in Kent (particularly Maidstone/Medway area). Although it would seem to be number of veg*ns is inversely proportionate to the number of Chavs :( , so I'd guess there are very few veg*ns round here.

Rob, the Vegan Society has several local contacts listed for Kent - see http://www.vegansociety.com/html/about_us/local_contacts/england.php . This doesn't mean there are groups, but you could ask them.

It is a nice guide.. I got mine from Beano Foods in Leeds. They have a very extensive list. Quite a useful publication.

Second meeting of the Medway Vegans and Veggies was today. :)
There were nine of us. We partook of the vegan food, had some lively debates, and are all descending upon an unsuspecting Sittingbourne for a demo in a few weeks. :D

I see you guys have a web site now:

you just need to put something in it. Sheila has the log in details but I can issue other accounts if any others of you want to lend her hand.
