i'm planning on making some chocolate chip cookies soon, and i was just double checking for when i buy chocolate chips, do i have to worry about anything other than it being milk chocolate? and if something says cocoa butter, is that real butter, or just chocolate something or another....yeah...thanks

Every place seems to different regarding this. Where I live (Canada) most semi-sweet chocolate chips seem to be vegan. Although I have heard from some American vegans that some semi-sweet chocolate chips contain milk. So your best bet would be to read the labels for the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Cocoa butter does not contain dairy butter. :) I believe it's just the "butter" made from cocoa.

In semi-sweet, bittersweet, or unsweetened chocolate, milk fat may be added. Cocoa butter is plant based. It comes from the cocoa bean.

Yum. I love chocolate chip cookies. Also watch out for butterfat, non-soy lecithin, and other 'milky' things like whey. I usually just buy a bar of vegan chocolate and chop it into little chunks.
