I posted about this a long time ago in another forum, but it seems nobody answered it :P, I also took a search around and I didn't come up with anything. If this is a copy of a previous question, do whatever you'd like with it, but please direct me to the answer. Okay, are there any energy drinks that are vegan in the U.S. ? I heard a lot about tourine or whatever.... and it doesn't look good because it comes from bulls or whatever... so?

The word you are looking for is taurine. I believe most energy drinks use synthetic taurine, since taurine from bulls would most likely be too expensive.

If you go on Red Bull's website they say

Yes, Red Bull® Energy Drink is gluten free, vegan, wheat free, dairy free!

and

Red Bull® Energy Drink is suitable for vegetarians. Red Bull® Energy Drink does not contain any animal products or substances derived from animals.

Taut (http://www.taut.co.uk/) do "sports" drinks but I think they are UK only. The drinks were vegan when I checked last summer.

Does anybody know about the Monster energy drink? www.monsterenergy.com, it's a lot cheaper than Red Bull, but just kind of worried, just in case. Anybody research it further, it's kind of hard to find a contact page for monster.

Monster company contacted me, and they said the product was vegan if any of you need the information :).

good thing they are because I drink them occasionally. I don't think Rockstar is vegan though. It has milk thistle, I don't know what it is, but it doesn't sound good!

Don't panic, see here (http://nccam.nih.gov/health/milkthistle/).

Fuck those sugar and caffeine laden energydrinks.
Have a powersmoothie: ricemilk, 3 bananas, tablespoon of peanutbutter, handful of ice, tablespoon of protein powder, handful of blueberries or strawberries, handful of nuts and a tablespoon of linseed.
Smack it all in a blender and blend for a minute on full pelt and drink it straight from the jug.

I'm with you, nervine. My vegan energy drink? Fresh-squeezed orange juice.;)

I don't drink them, so I'm not sure, but don't they all contain caffeine, or something herbal like guarana that is naturally high in caffeine? If that's where the "energy" comes from, its pretty bogus.

XS Energy is also vegan. Same caffeine content as Red Bull, no sugar/carbs/etc. and a crazy amount of vitamins. It makes me somewhat sad that I quit drinking them as now I have to look after my B12 intake again.
