Frozen Soya Beans!!

I've just seen an advert for frozen soya beans by Birds Eye:eek: :cool:

when the shops round here start stocking them I will have to give them a go as I've never seen soya beans on sale anywhere before:o :)

Ooo, sounds interesting. They look nicer than the dried ones you find in wholefood stores.

I've had these- very good :) The Sainsbury's near me stocks them.

RealEat do frozen soya beans which i think some Holland & Barrett stores sell as Kiran says, and i would imagine they're a lot more ethical than Birds Eye.

No, it's about a 28 mile round journey to my nearest H & B's so I haven't been for years and tend to make do with what I can get locally....I had a sneaking suspicion they'd already be available somewhere:o ....and whilst Birds Eye might not be the most ethical of companies (and then some:( ) at least they stand more chance of coming up for sale in my local supermarkets:)

I think I had some birdseye ones recently, they were very... soybeany.

a lot of supermarkets sell RealEat VegeMince, so maybe the soya beans will find their way into some supermarkets too...

i like them with melted margarine and a little bit of salt

Ive seen the frozen beans in ASDA and Tesco in the frozen veg dept so have look in stores local to you

I still havent tried any as Im not a great fan of green beans. Can anyone recommend a nice recipe for them? Are they good in curry or anything like that?

Presumably these are the same as the Realeat edamame (http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/frameset/detail/329464.html)...

They will go in anything that you might put other types of beans or peas in. They're a bit firmer than tinned beans, so they wouldn't go so well in a sloppy dish. But if the rest of the veggies are a bit crunchy, they should work fine.

I put them in a shepherds pie the other day and they were quite nice.
