Wouldn't it be cool if everyone wrote in and voted Neil Lea as their animal hero?

ARE YOU A HERO?
pets AND THEIR people Last chance to enter for prize in our top awards THE PEOPLE IFAW ANIMAL ACTION AWARDS
By Jessica Boulton
KNOW someone who's devoted their life to animals or rescued a pet from a blazing home? If so we want to hear from YOU.

We're searching for unsung heroes to be honoured in our annual Animal Action Awards.

Together with International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), we've had dozens of entries. Now we're making a final call for nominations before the July 31 deadline.

IFAW's Nick Jenkins said: "Whether you've run a sanctuary for years, rescued an animal in distress or just helped one stray improve their life, we want to hear from you."

There are seven adult awards - Education, Carer, Rescue, International, Commitment, Campaign and Lifetime Achievement.

Last year's lifetime winner was Betty Pearson, 77, who's spent an incredible 25 years rescuing dogs in Maidstone, Kent.

There is also a Young Animal Welfare award for under 18s and all the winners will receive their honours at a star-studded ceremony at the House of Lords in the autumn.

To nominate, write a short letter telling us what your friend has done and include all contact details. Send by July 31 to People/IFAW Animal Action Awards, PO Box 4010, London, E14 5BA.
