Jamboxrock, what shortening do you use?

I used to use Crisco all vegetable shortening, which checks out but still seems kinda gross. Most recently I found Earth Balance non-hydro shortening at my store.

Vegan Nachos. My first attempt and I'm sure I will make these often; quite easy, quick and yummy:

The "cheese" is from our mac and cheese thread. Nutritional yeast, flour, Earth Balance margarine, unsweetened soy milk, turmeric for coloring only, garlic powder (optional), shot of Tabasco (optional), a little Dijon mustard (optional).

In honor of Mardi Gras...10-grain pancakes with walnuts, warm sliced banana, pure Canadian Maple Syrup and veggie sausages. (I've always been horrible at making nice-looking pancakes, but at least they taste good!)

I have a jar of pickled okra at home and have no idea what to do with it either. I heard it's quite good with a tofu scramble though?

okra is good with everything. My favourite is to have it with some garlicky tomato sauce. Or in sushi. Or in stews. Ok, I love okra-anything.

Here's mine from last night. Yummy fried tofu with stir-fried veg and black bean sauce on wholegrain rice.

You could always cheat like I do, and buy it. Blue Dragon make a black bean sauce in little sachets that are perfect for one or two people. It's even labelled as suitable for vegans. :)
