Seaweed does not taste fishy though, it tastes of the sea. People just associate that test with fish because they are more familiar with sea animals than sea plant.

Personally I think fish tastes seaweedy! Probably.

Michael.

Well put. I agree. Sea plants taste like the sea, not fish. Nori doesn't taste the way it does because of animals just like New York City drinking water (probably most water actually) doesn't taste like shrimp, even though crustaceans live in that too.

I do wonder however how using nets compares to using a combine harvester? I'd have thought that most small animals would run away at the sound.

Or they might freeze, being paralyzed in fear.;) I supplied the pic by the way to show that with a sixteen row wide mouth coming at them, animals certainly in the center area have no where to flee. (and poor Mr. snail can't really run anyway) Even if they survive they'd return to discover their homes have been destroyed, their family is dead, and their entire eco-system which they depend on is missing; sort of like a natural disaster such as a tsunami to us.

Here's a video showing how quickly they move (this one is only 12 rows wide but I assume otherwise similar to the still pic I showed earlier):

The world we live in is not vegan.:(

That's only because some people are deadly allergic to even minute amounts.

Yep that's me :(

(well in actual fact I've never actually physically eaten it because I know I'm allergic, it's only ever been contamination like the same oil and stuff and that sends me in anaphalptic shock so...eating it would be death for certain.)

Alisont that food looks so yummy......

My dinner last night - Tom Yum with Jasmine rice and sweet chilli marinated tofu roasted with masses of garlic (my breath is luverely today!)

This is one of my favourite suppers - it's quick to make and really hits the flavour buttons!

we made lemon bars from 'the joy of vegan baking' this afternoon. i wasn't convinced after the base looked hideous, and the mixture looked grey..but..they turned out like this (not anything like the picture in the book) but taste fab!
