The most expensive meal I ever ate was in Terre à Terre. In total, including the tip, it was something like £90 for two of us.

The Mango Tree in London was the nicest vegan thai I've had. That came to about £100 each including drinks.

oh my, how I miss Terre a Terre! I could never go there without having a full three courses, plus nibbles to start and at least a bottle of wine. Not cheap, but worth every penny!

My dinner last nigtht... a mushroom and chestnut hot pot in a madeira gravy, topped with sliced potato interleaved with sauteed onions and garlic then left in the oven to mingle and let the potatoes go melt-in-your-mouth soft

I just made it up Scarlett.

Saute up some sliced onion and garlic ... add some quartered mushrooms and a pack of chestnuts along with some chopped carrot. I had some pinto beans in the fridge which needed using, so in they went. Stir in some sage (or whatever herb you like) and some maderia gravy (or whatever gravy you like) and simmer it all for 10 mins or so then tip into an ovenproof dish.

Slice some potatoes which have been par-boiled. Slice an onion and garlic and saute .... then top the mushie mix with a layer of potatoes, then some onion, then more potato.

Cook at 170 degrees for as long as you're hunger allows .. about 30 mins.

I'm definitely up for a Terre a Terre meet, especially if it's to celebrate Joeybee & Bryzee getting hitched.

Alisont, David Bann did make the top veggie restaurant list, along with Henderson's and Ann Purna in Edinburgh and Grassroot's Cafe in Glasgow.

I did not eat in Hendersons but did stock up on engine shed tofu and tofu cottage cheese in their shop very friendly vegan staff there, I ate at the fab baked potato shop and the wonderful engine shed too, was impressed by the fresh taste and use of spices and presentation at David Banns - and the service was excellent such friendly nice staff, packed out both Tues and Weds, savoury foods are their strong point as only 1 vegan pud on offer plus vegan ice cream.

Edinburgh is a very vegan friendly place:) everyone there seemed helpful and friendly!

Cobweb, those cakes look great!

Marrers, I bought a HUGE bottle of wine on Friday and worked on it hard all weekend, and barely got through half. Working on some more right now :) Oh and that restaurant looks seriously amazing.

Dinner tonight: twice baked potatoes w/ cheesy sauce & kale
