Ruby, I actually didn't use one. We just used paper bags, our hands and the counter. I'm sure we'll get one though for next time, it would make things a lot easier.

Mahk, thanks for the tips. That's pretty much what I *tried* to do, I just need a sharper knife :)

Aradia, that meal looks awesome. Yours too, Juicygirl. I could go for some of that pizza.

Aradia - that lentil pate looks gorgeous as well, in fact everything on here looks delicious, I'm hungry.

I made some Chiftele de ciuperci (Romanian mushroom patties) for the first time today, and they came out really well. I'm not even a big fan of mushrooms, but these were really tasty.

Wow it all looks great. Mamaliga - those mushroom things look lush! JBR - your food always looks healthy as well as yummy. Ruby that pie looks absolutely delicious!:):):)

I just made brunch, I burnt the pizzas the first time but I did it again and it was worth it, mmm I put vegan pesto on the base of it:

I had this the other day, just roast veggies and penne with garlic pitta bread (sorry if I already posted it!):

Thanks! Poison Ivy has posted the website I got the recipe from - I halved the recipe on there, and still had enough of it to make two meals. It's quite a good site in terms of vegan Romanian stuff. Haven't looked at making potato ones yet, but I imagine they'll be similar. I'll look into it.

If you're going to alter the recipe at all, don't leave out the dill! I hadn't used it before making these, but I think it was the ingredient that made them so awesome.

My Grandfather was Romanian, but that's a far as the connection goes. I've been learning the language, reading about the culture and cooking up a storm in recent months, but I'm afraid I've lived in Britain all my life.

On today's (not Romanian) menu: Vegetable samosas

http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq201/MamaligaUK/Samosa.jpg

Filling turned out great, but the pastry was too thick. Also, no oven at the moment so I had to fry them. Unhealthy, but a success.

Aaaaaaagh. I hate posting right after your beautiful photos!! Mine aren't that great... but I don't cook very often so I figure I should celebrate even my botch jobs! :D

Tagliatelle (white and green) w/ mushroom 'bolognese' sauce from Rose Elliot's Vegan Feasts:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/gpc1000/Bento/Dinners/Mushroombolognesesauce.jpg

Stir fried veggies w/ coriander rice:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/gpc1000/Bento/Dinners/Stirfryvegwithcorianderrice.jpg

The veggies were: red onion, garlic, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, mange tout, red pepper, green pepper, yellow pepper, mushrooms, dry chilli flakes. The rice I did in water that had a sprinkling of ground coriander in it, and then I mixed it with part heated/wilted and part fresh coriander after it was cooked. Seemed to work!

Looks yummy Est, how do you get the rice that shape?
(I need to stop looking on this thread and stop reading about vegan food!)

I copied the restaurant that served me with beautifully shaped coriander rice on Sat! Would never have thought of it by myself :p

Pressed it into an American measuring cup, dinner plate on top, turned over and tapped out... voila!
