I read in today's Courier Mail that despite waterbird numbers are at a 20-year low, the NSW environment minister, Mr Mickel, has approved the shooting season in May. And this despite being in the middle of the worst droughts in recent history. Anti-shooting groups argue that duck hunting should also be banned in Qld. :(

Fortunately yesterday the Queensland govt banned duck and quail shooting, though that right is still open to aboriginal people for some reason.

That's discrimination. If one group is banned from hunting, then all groups should be banned from hunting as far as I'm concerned.

It's great news for the ducks and quails though and I hope the government puts in place a full ban to allow these animals the right to live peaceful, happy lives.
