I've only managed to find these (http://www.dietaryneedsdirect.co.uk/cnb/shop/dietaryneedsdirect?productID=2402&search=coins&op=catalogue-product_info-null) so far. There also seem to be kosher chocolate coins which may be suitable available in the US but can't find any UK suppliers.

they're not coins, but maybe some tree decorations would do if you can't find any? i wonder if green and blacks will be doing any... they do advent calendars i think?

How about the Elizabeth Shaw ones?

Both mint and orange are vegan (subject to the usual get out clause of made in same factory or something)

I've seen other vegan ones in the past, it's gonna bug me all night now that I can't remember where

I'm a little put off the Elizabeth Shaw ones these days. My friend bought me some mint ones because he thought I could have them, but it doesn't say "may contain traces", which I'm not too fussed about, it actually says "contains traces of milk" which I'm not so impressed with.

I'm not really sure what to do with them now, I may just give them to my granny - she never reads the small print of things so she won't think I'm being a hypocrite for giving something with milk in :)

What????? Oh no! When did they change that? Haven't bought any in ages, but have kept them in my mental list of ok chocolates. Dammit, another choice gone!

I have sent a couple of emails off to suppliers as I can't see why there are no plain chocolate coins available, it seems crazy. Fingers crossed :)

I'm sure you can buy your own choccy coin makers...

ah here they are: http://www.amazon.co.uk/John-Adams-Golden-Coin-Maker/dp/B00083D79U

£15??!! blimey. No doubt you'd only use it once as well. Then have to think about the fact that you probably can't get replacement foils and bags. Oh and that it comes with milk 'chocolate'.

Not to mention the negative reviews...

Im sure ive seen some another year in a fair trade type place:confused: will keep an eye out, montezumas so big dark choc buttons - thinking wrapping them in foil but not quite the same effect! Oxfam occasionlay get divine choc coins in but prob milk?

Wonder if Kinnerton do anything? I know they have had vegan easter eggs?

I've had a gander at the website, and googled, but can't find any kinnerton ones. Maybe email them?

I've emailed Plamil, as they are listed as the makers on Dietary Needs Direct, haven't heard back from them yet.

I have had a reply from one of the other companies which do supposedly custom made coins - seems you can have whatever logo you want on the foil but that company will only use milk chocolate, and no explanation why :(

i am still struggling to find.

here's the thing. every year 'santa' brings 2 bag sof chcolate coins to my house and deposits them into the girl's stockings..has been this way for 13 years..might be a bit suspect if no coins appear merely becos i..ahem..sorry, 'santa' couldn't find non milk chocolate ones. i got away with it last year, buying milk chocolate ones, but am not prepared to get milk ones this year (oh sorry. 'santa' isn't etc etc )

anyway, thanks for the replies everyone..if anyone should come across any in a shop/internet place..especially in a shop..PLEASE buy two lots and pm me and i'll send some cash and that..thanks :)

Maybe 'Santa' could leave something else and a note to say that now the girls are a bit older they get more 'grown-up' sweets - Truffles or something

It's weird, I don't remember explaining that one, I just changed all coins, etc, over to sweets and chocolates from Veganstore and it was accepted. Good luck!

You could always have them shipped if it's a really big tradition. There's these from Chocolate Decadence in the US for example, which would be with you in 7 days... though when I saw the price I nearly choked on my tea:

Did someone already suggest looking for kosher coins? Parve might do?

I saw choc coins in Thorntons window today and went in to look not thinking they would have anything other than milk choc, however they do have dark choc coins this year! Now i got the manager to dig out her list - and they cant list them as vegan due to the 'may contain traces of milk' issue.

They are listed as being milk free - apart from slight risk of milk traces, I didnt buy any as dont need them and had brought some dark choc earlier, they are 99p a pack, personal choice about the may contain traces of but are the only dark choc coins ive seen?

The manager said some vegans have brought them but others have not due to the slight risk of milk - she said she thinks eventually Thorntons might start selling more dairy free choc and agreed they should have more vegan ranges.

Choccy coins, vegan ones! Made by Plamil it seems? Other goodies too, yum!

Last year I just gave these (http://www.veganstore.co.uk/holy_cow_dinner_choc.html) as the orange ones look kinda like coins!

The plamil ones that Twinkle and Blue Moon suggested look cool, but they're quite expensive, especially if that's all you're ordering. The 99p from Thorntons is definitely exciting. Why are they red though!? They could have done them a metallic coppery colour or something!

I know this thread is old but when I was in my local healthfood shop I saw these and remembered this thread, and you might be after some this year. They're not coins but they're xmassy choccyness (http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/frameset/detail/800538_Siesta_D_D_Dark_Chocolate__Decorative_Box_N ovelty_Shapes_120g.html).
