I might have heard that you can travel to the UK in them and not be questioned by immigrations officers like one could be at an airport. Is that true? I really want to go there (for holidays/time off--for now--from my job). If anyone could give any insight, I would appreciate it. :)

If you are just going for a holiday it should be fine anyway.

Heres my experience (dover to calais usually - france and back) , they will need a passport and on one side of the crossing will check your bags with an X-ray machine , but no-one 'questions' you as such.

Customs do some checks on cars and I have had my bags rummaged through when I was regularly travelling between Dover and Calais.

Thank you, everyone. :) Well, I won't be needing a car to be checked. :D So, it's not quite like it is at the airport?

we were coming back from touring europe with our band. we got to calais about 12 midnight.
for whatever reason (sex, drugs and rock n roll?) they wanted to search our van, which meant getting ALL out kit out
it got a little heated when one of the customs guys accused us of smelling of canabis (whihc was quite ironic, as we were a staright edge ,drug and alcohol free) band.
