Here is a fab easy to make dessert recipe that I found somewhere long forgotten so now just make to how I roughly remember the recipe being and vary ingredients according to what I have in the house:

ingredients

100g dark chocolate tin pureed chestnuts
carton of soya whipping cream
smidge of vanilla essence (optional)
tablespoon brandy or similar

melt chocolate and blend with other ingredients. turn into small bowls (is quite rich) refrigerate for min one hour but up to several days decorate with cream, raspberries and grated chocolate

or use orange liquor in the recipe with orange zest and decorate with cream orange segments and grated chocolate.

anyone else seen variations on this recipe?

I vaguely remember making something like this but it was assembled more as a cake, which you set in a cake-tin lined with greaseproof paper and then sliced after chilling. Your way sounds less accident-prone veganlinda :)

I'm not sure it had cream in it, it might just have been chestnut puree and melted chocolate, but with flaked almonds added IIRC.

Chestnuts and chocolate is an ace combination!

Harpy, I had a look online to try and find the original recipe and there were variations that had butter or egg-yolks instead of cream and they went in cake tins.

This version is more like a mousse ... v nice and quick to assemble for unexpected guests from things you can just keep in you cupboards ... if you can resist temptation :D
