Ok, dumb question I think but I have to ask it anyway. What are soaked walnuts? I have a recipe that calls for "soaked" walnuts; the directions are to soak the walnuts for four to six hours. I'm presuming that I should soak them in water. Am I correct? In how much water? Enough to completely cover them? I have the raw walnuts, now I just need to soak them. Thanks

Hi Succatash

Soaked walnuts are just walnuts that have been soaked in water. Just cover them with water and leave them.

You can soak lots of nuts and pulses, it softens them and kicks them back into life. Try soaking a handful of almonds overnight ... check them out the next day and you will see that they have begun to sprout ... a tiny little "tail" sticking out the top. They are much more beneficial nutritionally this way.

Sprouts are about the best food for you in the world (as part of a balanced diet of course).
