I work in the ESL department at my university and the Turkish students invited me to their home for some traditional Turkish food. They know I am vegan and wanted me to bring something.

Does anyone know of something delicious I could make?

Hi!

According to Vegetarian Turkish Cooking (http://www.amazon.com/Vegetarian-Turkish-Cooking-Turkeys-Classic/dp/1583940383/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221704549&sr=8-1), many Turkish recipes need no change at all since they already are vegan.

Here are some...

Vegan Turkish Lentil Soup (http://www.care2.com/greenliving/turkish-lentil-soup-vegan-recipe.html)

since they already know about turkish food maybe they'd prefer if you brought something traditional for you?

From the title, it seems that he wanted something vegan/Turkish to offer these people, but I agree - since they know Turkish food already, why not offer them something entirely different? :)

I ended up making a different dish, kisir ("turkish tabbouleh"=bulgur, tomato, onion, garlic, lemon, mint)

when some of the students ate it they thought that another turkish student had brought it, not the awkward vegan kid from kansas. : )
