Cake in bread machine

Has anyone tried making a cake in a bread machine? If you got good results, would you be willing to share the recipe please?

I know this has been touched on before but I can't see anything about the outcomes people got. I'm not just lazy - I've got a terrible track record when it comes to cakes. I did find a breadmaker carrot cake recipe on line so could give that a whirl, as it were.

Me neither - I guess that's a challenge then when I finally get my stuff out of storage.

yes i have its a tea loaf. kinda like cinnamon cake with raisons and apples.

lemme see if i can remember

3 cups flour
1 cup water (cold)
1 cup mixed fruit (dried)
1 teaspoon of yeast
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar

set on a light setting or on a cake setting either so good. i usally make this for my granparents in law.


also you could do a choclate and orange cake same as above but with fresh orange juice and choclate pieces.

also if you want some pasty type stuff use a spoon of jam to the above recipe but take out the fruit cinnamon and sugar. not found out really what to use it for but its good if your craving pastries and cant find any vegan ones around to buy. :thumbsup:

Sounds good, will have to try that at some point. I've done lots of savoury breads, but not sweet yet for some reason. I've dough in it lots of times for sweet things, but not actual loaves.

I think harpy was on about actual cake (baking agent risen) in a bread machine thou (as opposed to yeast risen), which sounds a bit scary. I'm not sure how good the paddle would be at making a well beaten and aerated batter, as opposed to a well kneaded dough.

I wanted to try and make carrot cake (which my mother-in-law is partial to) - I got all the stuff for the recipe I found but then never actually made it :o Musixi's tea loaf does sound a bit less scary, perhaps I could make that next time she comes - thank you Musixi.
