Vegan Tamworth?

I'm going on a work course on 14th March in Oakthorpe in Derbyshire, which looks on the map to be between Tamworth and Derby.

Could anyone suggest a vegan-friendly B&B/hotel round there and/or somewhere I can eat on the Friday evening?

I'm not aware of anything veggie - restaurant wise - although if you get a good Veggie B&B they might do you dinner too.

Otherwise - why not train it into brum or other major city/town in the area?

Probably less than 30 mins on the train.

Thanks Frank - my geography of that neck of the woods is very poor: I didn't realise it was so close to B'ham.

I had done some googling - it was more that I wondered if anyone had any personal experience to share.

No it's Oakthorpe - just by J11 of the M42. Nowhere near, as far as I can make out, the beautiful bits.

Ruby Rose you will be sooooo close to my house there! I am about 10 mins from J11.

Don't know of any vegan hotels/B&Bs round here. 15 mins away is Bretby Conference Centre and Hotel which caters for vegetarians "and other diets on request (notice required)". http://www.bretbycc.co.uk/

At 35 mins away there is The Barn Retreat http://www.thebarnretreat.co.uk/html/bedandbreakfast.htm which caters for vegetarians and therefore might be able to do vegan if you ask them?

Dinner on Friday - if you can travel 30 mins by car, The Burnt Gate at Anslow is a fab pub/restaurant that has a full vegan menu, including vegan desserts! http://www.burntgate.co.uk/ Very yummy indeed. If you go there I will come along to keep you company LOL :D

PS If you are really stuck for places to stay you are welcome to my spare room, but the house is a complete tip and could even be hazardous to health!
