if you visit this link to the severn trent water site, you can order up to 4 little bags to put in the toilet cistern and start saving 1litre every time you flush.
only one bag used at a time and last approx 5yrs. :)

but be careful, if your toilet is new enough then doing this means you won't be flushing properly.

sadly mine is too old to use it, using a hippo or other such devices means a poor flush and due to the ancient design (the loo is 80 years old and the design much older as the pan was designed for a high level cistern not a low level one) it uses and needs a lot of water :(
still as I'm using less than a cubic metre of water a month at the moment according to my water meter I can't be doing too badly all in all.

ha ha that would be fun for my neighbours.
nope I'm just careful with water in the home and recycle some of it. When I take a shower (I have a shower in the bath) I save the water and do the first wash in it when hand washing clothes. My sink water gets used for cleaning the balcony and of course if it's yellow let it mellow (within reason) if it's brown flush it down.

is that just you, or are you including any other people you live with (i don't know if you have any flatmates)?

I'm from Australia and i snuck a brick into our cistern when i was 14. That and we also go by the rule "if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down".. except when we have guests! we also redirected the pipes from our sinks to the lawns, which is why we have suspiciously green lawns during the drought
