I found an interview of Donald Watson (http://www.veganmeans.com/vegan_who/Donald_Watson.htm) on Vegan Means. Watson grew up on a small family farm, and, apparently, animals squealed at slaughter even before factory farming. Surprising, isn't it?

I love this interview. He must have been such a great person.

I particularly like how he refers to that farm, which I suppose nowdays would be called 'humane' or something, to a death row,

where every creature's days were numbered by the point at which it was no longer of service to human beings

I actually raised this point with a friend who was telling me how fairly her grandfather treated his animals on his farm, but I don't think it struck a chord - and mind you, she is a great cat lover and very sensitive about animals' needs. But in her mind offering an animal food and safety in exchange for its life is just quid pro quo.:(

What a wonderful man. I would not like to have witnessed the things he did growing up. I would have loved to have met him.

I would have loved to have met him. That would have been nice. (Thinking: Too bad this (http://www.veganforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=72769&postcount=10) idea never was materialized...)

That would have been a fascinating interview Korn, it is a pity it never happened.

That would have been excellent. What a wonderful man, not read it all yet (as 25 pages) but printed it to read later and keep.
