Exciting news biscuit fans, I just emailed Fox's to enquire about their dark chocolate "chunkie" cookies, which claim that they "contain" (not "may contain") Cows Milk.

The reply i got was:

"The cows milk may be present in the dark chocolate as dark choclate is
produced on a line which also produces milk choc. "

So it would appear it is just an allergy notice.

According to Ocado the ingredients list is:

Wheatflour, Dark Chocolate Chunks (19%), Vegetable Oil, Sugar, Dark Chocolate Drops (9%), Oatmeal, Partially Inverted Refiners Syrup, Desiccated Coconut, Glucose Syrup, Molasses, Raising Agent: Disodium Diphosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Ammonium Bicarbonate, Salt, Flavouring, Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin, Dark Chocolate Chunks contain Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin, Natural Flavouring, Dark Chocolate Drops contain Cocoa Mass, Sugar, Fat-reduced Cocoa Powder, Dextrose, Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin, Natural Flavouring

Oh dear :( These sound lovely, but I've been boycotting G&Bs for saying "contains..." so I've now got a decision on whether I keep doing that... if I'm gonna do it, I'll do it consistently!

*thinks hard* :hmm:

G&B have milk actually listed on the ingredients though. They could suddenly start putting milk in intentionally and you wouldn't be any the wiser, so the Fox's things are a step up from that.

I always avoid the things that say 'contain milk' because I (seemingly incorrectly) assumed that some of the flavourings, or other trace ingredient, was sourced from milk.

Yeah, I know... my reason for that plus anything saying "contains" is because I think it sends a mixed message about what vegans do/don't eat - but I digress and I'm taking this OT (sorry Mr F - was thinking out loud and probably shouldn't have done!)

I might give in and buy these anyway - they sound yummy :)

Just back from Morrisons with 3 packs of these! They were half price at 74p so it seemed wrong not to indulge :)

Had two cookies on the way home, very nice. Could quite easily work my way through a pack very quickly :D

I found some in Kingston Waitrose today. £1.59 for 10 cookies. I thought they were okay but I'm not best qualified to review them as I'm not a big biscuit fan (I prefer cakes or soft cookies).
