I am a 20-year-old student from Los Angeles, California and will be spending two months in London this summer (June 17th-August 15th). I was wondering if any of you might be able to help me locate a place to stay during that time (no more than 200 pounds per week, and preferably in central London). I tried contacting people on spareroom.co.uk, but everyone seems to be looking for people to move in immediately.

any help is much appreciated!

p.s. while in London I do intend on trying to make it to a vegan meet-up, so I hope to meet some of you :)

Sorry I can't offer any advice on accommodation but welcome to VF. Hope to see you posting in some of the threads so we can get to know you and to see you at a meet up in the summer.

Hi Rachel. You could also try asking on Vegan Village http://www.veganvillage.co.uk/notices.htm which I think some other forumers have used. It may be easier to find somewhere nearer the time, as you've already discovered.

Yes, some people from here (and friends of people on here) have done this quite successfully.

If you dont have any luck with couch surfing you could try one of the uni halls of residence as they do good deals on vacation bookings - Ive stayed in the LSE (London school of Economics) rooms a few times found them to be good (i use Passfield hall near Euston) I pay about £30 a night but if you block book a room it may well work out cheaper. They did cater for vegans with the breakfast too. You also get access to the shared kitchens which is useful.

Ive also used Travelstay for uni summer rooms before and friends have boked rooms too.

Id check reviews on Tripadvisor or ask on here if you do have to book a room as there are some very dodgy hotels in some parts of London! (like any major city)

So...I was finally able to get in contact with my English Uncle's friends who live in Ealing and they are letting me stay at their home this summer!

I haven't been to Ealing....are there any vegan restaurants out there? I'm really looking forward to visiting new places in London though, and FREE RENT is pretty great for a poor college student.

Sounds like a good deal! I think Blah Blah Blah is in that general direction - it's a vegetarian restaurant but last time I went there it seemed quite vegan-friendly

Not sure what else is round there but anyway you will be able to get into town easily from Ealing.
