So here's my vegetable broth recipe: http://centralillinoisvegan.com/recipes/17-general-recipes/25-vegetable-broth.html

I was wondering if anybody else had ideas on broth. I've thought about trying things like carrot broths, pea broth, other stuff like that. I get bored making my beans and stuff with just water, using broths seems to be a much better option.

Is it incredibly lazy to just use stock cubes / paste?

That looks a good recipe.

You can also make broth/stock with just mushrooms and onions - the big opened-out mushrooms are sometimes available cheaply (here at any rate) and that's the best kind. A splash of wine or sherry doesn't do any harm if you don't mind alcohol.

ETA although I am very lazy I've gone off commercial stock a bit because it often seems to have an aftertaste (unless it's my imagination). I'd sooner just use water for soups etc.

Cubes and paste are too expensive for the amount of broth I use.

I figure salt, water, and veggies would make its own broth...

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of broths that would be a bit more specific :)

Carrot broth sounds good, maybe throw in a parsnip or two to spice it up a little.
