i like to check out fitday.com to see if i am getting all my vitamins etc... naturally. if by the end of the day the site indicates i'm deficient in somethin important - i ususally take a multi vitamin or a specific one if i have it.

one vitamin i always exceed is A, and today i had 1954.3 % of my rda of vit K. both these are fat soluable. so is it alright to have so much of these on a daily basis? can u have too many vitamins?

You can have too many vitamins - some are just dispersed from the body naturally, but others can be stored. I'm afraid that I'm not sure which are which - someone will tell us, I'm sure!

Yes, there actually are vitamins that are harmful when the intake is too high. There's even disagreement about overdosing B12 (http://www.veganforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=169). , Some people say there's no problem taking excessive amounts of this vitamin, while others refer to studies that associate high B12 levels with certain diseases, including some types of cancer.

Here's what Google comes up with when seaching for vitamin overdose:

There has been some stuff in the news about vitamin A recently - it seems that too much can be toxic, but that it's probably the kind that you get from foods of animal origin that is problematic. Here's a report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4167675.stm

Edited to add that I found this about vitamin K - suggests you don't have too much to worry about there either http://www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/nutrition/factsheets/vitamin-k.html
