thanks, and yes, Plantar Fasciitis is nasty. I've been to specialists, I have exercises which help a lot, and I use a foot massager. I also have to buy (expensive!) 'suitable' shoes/trainers. I've has physio and also injections into my heels. I've had 2 really bad flare-ups so I try hard to avoid them now. The tendon thing is annoying, too, it makes my ankle swell up on the other foot!. I'm sure it would help if I lost weight though.

And, yay! we do now have a permanent roof over our heads, it's very small but homely, has a lovely little garden full of primroses, daffodils, camelias and trees, and surrounded by open fields. So life isn't all bad.

Good luck with your journey towards a size 12, I think maybe I would settle for a 14 but will be in awe of you when you reach your goal!.

@Gattona - thank you for posting your story. You appear to be a very strong person :) I won't try to write any 'wise words' because you'll already know them and I don't want to sound trite. Congratulations on your journey with SW so far :) Hurrah for our wee support group on here!

I have done really well so far with SW. It has truly changed my life. Along with a couple of other things, I have Type 1 diabetes, and the SW plan suits me to a T. It's really difficult to explain to people who don't have diabetes, or have only had it a short time, but it used to be a really restricting type diet I would have to follow. That all changed when I did something called DAFNE a few years ago. My life was free again, in terms of I could eat whatever the heck I liked, whenever I liked! However, to my cost, this freedom came with other issues. I now understand that I function better with some sort of framework, and SW has given me that healthy, structured frame.

Hmmmm, my story come across as a bit of a mess :dizzy: I hope it makes sense!

I have lost a total of 10.6kg so far, and that's since 28th Dec? So far, so good (and my typo there was 'food'!). However, I do also have an active job, and I don't have a car so I walk to and from work everyday. As well as doing, according to my pedometer, about 12,000 steps during the day!

@cobweb - oh my. I just had a scoot on wiki about plantar fasciitis. You poor thing. Not anything like you've got, but I've got 6 screws in my right foot due to a Lisfranc fracture a couple of years back which occasionally gives me gyp so I can (negligibly!) understand. Well done on the 4lb loss! You sound positive about your new place, which can only mean good things!

Right, I'll stop waffling now! I've just enjoyed a nakd Cocoa Mint bar, which is only 7 Syns!

Hi Pusskins (and thanks for your reply on my kitten thread) I have just googled DAFNE. Gosh, it sounds like lots of effort but useful. I had gestational diabetes with my last child but was diet controlled but I do know about blood tests after meals and eating a very limited diet. I'm happy for you that SW suites your diabetes too, I've heard loads of good things about being vegan being very good for diabetes too but it looks like its not been a miracle for you.

You've lost lots then since December. Good for you. And now you are so near your goal, that is really good news. Don't disapear on us when you get there will you?

I've noticed this many a time before, you get a bunch of overweight people together and they've all got stories that are hard listening to - I suspect something we've got in common that we've used food unwisely in the past to get through difficult times. Its never pure greed as the fortunately slim so often assume.

Hugs to all of here, posters and readers xxx

Pusskins your foot screws sound alarming enough! :amazed_ani:. Thanks for the sympathy though , it does get me down because I love walking.

Yes, I often feel that being overweight is rarely down to 'just' greed. My mother says that "overweight people are stupid" but of course it's not true (in most cases anyway! :p). We all deal with things differently, don't we, some smoke, some drink, some beat their partners, some take drugs...........I think over-eating does the least harm to others, but, sadly, it does a lot of mental and physical harm to the over-eater :(.

Of course I won't disappear! There'll be the whole maintaining thing, and all sorts of gubbins like that :D

Hugs to all, too

Ooooh,

I found a new goody in Sainsburies today. Probably 4 - 5 syns a pack. Its a pack of be good to yourself crispy type things, Paprika flavour soya and potato snacks. very nice with a melt in the mouth texture.

93 kcal and 4.7g of protein per pack and they even say they are vegan on the pack

I did it once and put on weight!. Loads of stuff was 'free' foods, like potatoes (cooked without fat), and veg, I ate more than usual and actually gained.

I've often wondered how they can call veg FREE food.... an average jacket potato (which i LOVE) can contain around 200 calories!!! that's a big percentage of your daily calorie allowance surely..... but they're like saying you can eat 10 jackets a day and not gain a lb????

I don't know, Daffodil, but somehow, for me anyway, it works! And there is only so much you can put away, even if you have a history of eating anything that's nailed down :) Noodles and pasta are the way to go. I have to eat the free-from pasta (gluten-, wheat- and everything else-free) . Don't know if that makes a difference.

My 3 month online membership has run out, on the day I needed to enter my weight! Boo! Can't afford to renew at the moment, but will do so when we're back on track financially. Should be in a couple of months, as my other half starts the new job on Monday.

SO I'm kinda winging it for the forseeable future. But I have learned so much in these 3 months, I can't fail! Hopefully... :p We'll see how it goes. I've got my support group on here!

I've lost 0.4kg (0.9lb) this week. A smidge, but I'm pleased.

Gattona

Pusskins, of course you can't fail :) Even if your loss this week is less than other weeks its still going in the right direction. Sorry your in financial difficulties atm, hope your OH's job is OK.

Daffodil, it works for me and in Pusskins wonderful phrase I have a history of eating everything that's not nailed down. Heck, I'd have ripped it up and had the nails as well when REALLY stressed. But with SW you do have to eat other things and I think they recomend a proportion of 'SuperSpreed foods in each meal. If you are eating too much and out of control then the SW, like all other plans, won't work. But if you can follow it, it does work. Amazing. I don't get how baked beans with the sugar in them can be SS but there you go, they are and it works.

SO... how is everybody getting on?

Apparently, pasta bake has now become my signature dish, and there is always something I do that's slightly different every time. Depending on what veg we have, really! I've found that butternut squash is LUSH in the pasta bake. And I make a massive dish of it (moved up from my diddy Pyrex rectangular roaster to the biggest Pyrex rectangular roaster I could find which only cost £3 from QD!), so it lasts us a good few days - lunches and/or dinners.

Congrats to everyone doing so well on the plan!

I joined online today - so any help/advice/vegan recipes would be greatly received!

I've followed the plan before but it's changed quite a bit since last time and I was also veggie when I did the plan previously, which I found easier because of being able to eat lots of quorn.

Veggie soup for dinner tonight!

^^^^ Tee hee Pusskins ^^^^

I'm going to try to be as good as possible & avoid starchy carbs after 5pm - hence vegetable soup!

I'm not having any syns all week either (saving them up as I always have a few drinks at the weekend!):devil:

Welcome KayJay.

I love doing a sort of curry inspired from a minimins poster.

1 tin of mushy peas, a couple of onions chopped up, chopped up potatoes and a stock cube and curry powder to taste.

Put everything together in a casserole dish with some water and leave in teh oven for a couple of hours checking for going too dry or over cooking. Mushy peas are SS, the rest are also all free foods.

Pusskins, how do you do your pasta bakes?

Fry's sausages - the ones with the circle proclaiming themselves to be lower fat are free, are are the Real Eat chicken style lumps (NOT the Fry's)

I might have lost another couple of pounds and put it back on or the scales blipped. I'm now doing my best to weigh in only once a week to avoid the excitement and disapointments.

Thank you Gattona :)

Fry's sausages AND Realeat "Chicken" pieces all free? Woohoo! And the curry sounds great, especially as I have a slow cooker so I can chuck it all in there!

I had veg soup last night which looked disgusting but tasted ok. Will take me a while to get back into it but am feeling positive with it :) Great to have support on here, so thanks guys

Not ALL Fry's sausages, only the original and (I expect but haven't done a comparison of the nutritional data on the packs) and the braewust(?? the trad SA ones) with the lower fat label on them. Enjoy.

I'm about to do a stir fry with a pack of tesco ready veg in a stock cube with grated ginger and garlic combined with scrambled tofu - minus the marge and nutritional yeast and am confident it will be both nice and completely free (food wise)

Yummy! Been to H&B to get some of the Fry's sausages so will try them later with beans, grilled tomatoes & mushrooms :)

Any other yummy vegan stuff that's syn free? Are any of the "pasta & sauces" vegan & syn free?

Gattona
Apr 5th, 2011, 04:42 PM
Pasta and sauces thingies.. yes .. but I wouldn't call them yummy. I THINK they are made by batchelors and I got a couple when Sainsburies had them on a BOGOF, I think it was called tomato and herb and its free and vegan. Your grill sounds nice, my stir fry was nice but then I got EALLY hungry and hadn't got anything prepared and had my HEB all bran. I'm being very careful atm as I seem to have put on three pounds and I can only put it down to being slack and not weighing and measuring. Shopping here I go tomorrow to get one of thos scales that weigh small quantities accurately

Right, the BASIC pasta bake which is on the Slimming World meal suggestions is pretty much as follows:
Fry up in frylight onion, pepper and courgette, add a jar of passata, stir in a load of cooked pasta and pour in to dish. Bake on gas mark 5 for 20-25 mins.

BUT I now lob in broccoli, mushrooms, squash... Whatever I've got kicking around in the fridge or what I fancy. Sweetcorn. Then I also whack in a packet of vegan mince (I get the Morrisons own brand) along with some veg stock (eg 400g mince + 400ml veg stock) and some balsamic vinegar or tamari, and a tin or two of tomatoes, or the jar of passata. Season. I use dried sage as well. Stir in the boiled pasta, slam it in the oven... I then see if the top is nice and crispy and then I get it out. It's LUSH!!!

Also, sorry to hear about the 3lb 'blip' Gattona. Remember, these are not permanent! Are you drinking enough water? Having enough fibre? Making sure you have your Syns? I recommend Salter scales. About £20? They are very good for weighing. My first electric scales were about a tenner from Tesco, and they were good too.

hello everyone. i havent been able to get on as much recently, but hope youre all getting on fine, will have a quick read of the thread in a mo. ive upped excersice and its paying off, another 1lb off next week and ill get my 3 1/2 stone sticker. woop

Brilliant MsP - 3 and half, I'll catch you up, just wait and see :) I have cardio stuff down as a 'should' which is unhealthy for me , its an i could if I chose to prioritise it - which I don't. I do think I've just got lazy and careless about the measuring side of things. A big bowl of all bran - sure, that must be 42g thinks I, probably erroniously.... etc

Pusskins, thanks for the concern and the recipe - I've often vaguely wondered how to do pasta bakes. It looks good.

good news for me

Wow, emmap - 3 1/2! You're WHIZZING down the hill! Well done  Glad to hear you're so positive.

No probs, Gattona. I've learned some brilliant wee recipes from SW, and am getting better at adapting recipes. I feel quite accomplished :D

They are fab, aren't they? No more McCartney sossies for me and my other half!

Weight is awful this week due to pre-period bloat. Just going to hide from scales until I'm done :(
