My bestest best friend is turning 30 on 8th June. She gave me amazing gifts for my 30th birthday, and part of what I would like to give her is a fabulous novelty birthday cake.

Please could somebody help point me in the right direction of a vegan cakemaker who can do me either a Playmobil-inspired cake or a Spirited Away-inspired cake? I have googled and searched, but it's either cupcakes or cakes with soft frosting. Or, frankly, just not very good looking cakes (sorry, nice cakemakers!).

Appreciate any help. Thank you!

This person does vegan cakes as well: http://www.icedgemcakes.co.uk (http://www.icedgemcakes.co.uk)

Not sure where they deliver too but I think they just charge more for futher afield. Expensive though, but I think most cake maker's charge a lot.

Thank you - gorgeous cakes! Unfortunately, she says that Celebration Cakes are collection only (she's in Brighton) and she's taking a break from cake-making until the end of 2011.

Thank you, though. It's the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Hi
These 5 might be of use (just make sure you sit down when looking at the price:p).

Thank you, Firestorm. I've ordered cakes from The Heavenly Cake Company before. They are fabulous, but not what I'm looking for. Vegan Cake Direct, they are limited in size and design. The other sites I have looked at before, but they're just not quite what I am looking for. I know I can't get a Cake Boss cake or Ace of Cakes cake, but I am looking for a 3D design.

Something like this:

Actually (thinking as I type) I guess what I could do is order a cake and put Playmobil characters on it. So it will be a fab cake with a Playmobil theme. Hmmmm... It's difficult, this. Maybe my ideas aren't really possible!

Have you posted an ad. on Vegan Village?

Also, I've done that before, made a cake and out figures on the top, it looked great and was easy! :bandanna:.

I've done a few this way, the Kermit one is the only picture I can find at the moment though.

An ad on Vegan Village is a great idea, cobweb! Thanks, I'll give that a go.

FAB cake! I think I'll leave it to the cakemakers, though and, if it comes to it, I'll pop a few wee figures on top! Mmmm, the chocolate buttons...

Pusskins - take a look at Hannah Banana Bakery on facebook - she's just finished a sugarcrafting course and put up some fab pics of animals/shapes she'd done. She definitely does cakes cos I saw a pic of a sandcastle cake (it was awesome!) and I can personally vouch for her cupcake pods :o She's ever so nice and I'm sure she'd be able to work something out.
She's in Southampton but posts loads of stuff out so it would definitely be properly packaged and protected.

Alternatively, maybe you could buy/make a basic vegan cake and then ask a local professional decorator to decorate it? I would be wary about expecting something with very fancy decoration to survive transit unscathed.

My worry is always about the food colouring, but I guess if I discuss this with the cake decorator? Is it just the red (cochineal) I need to be worried about?

Thank you so much guys. Knew I could get some help here :D Fingers crossed now!

My sister-in-law has made my boys birthday cakes which of course were vegan. She runs Aventis and is one of the busiest cake company's in the area. Her decorations are 1st class and I'd highly recommend her. If you'd like a contact number send a pm.......

Forgot to mention she lives in Poringland.
