Ok, so you may not celebrate Easter, but you may well not want to miss out on vegan Easter eggs. I found this list for you's on VEGAN FAMILY. (http://www.veganfamily.co.uk/easter.html#uk)

UK Easter Goodies

Chunky dairy-free eggs - colourful foil wrapping, about the size of a 'creme egg', available in health food shops.

Green and Blacks (http://www.greenandblacks.com/gifts.php) Maya Gold Easter Egg (organic and fair traded) - about £2.89 from health food shops and some supermarkets - a good sized egg, boxed and wrapped in gold foil - this wins our "best buy" though the chocolate is quite strong tasting which some children might not like

Walkers Chocolates produce a pack of 3 mint eggs (about the size of a creme egg) - sold for around 59p in Wilkies and other discount shops.

Fun Bunnies - orange flavour carob bunnies - available in many health food shops at £1.50 for a pack of three

Lindt solid 70% cocoa mini eggs (available in many supermarkets) - gold foil wrapping (there is a chance of cross contamination with most companies that make milk chocolate too - this applies to Lindt and Elizabeth Shaw below).

Elizabeth Shaw (http://www.elizabethshaw.co.uk/) - 365g Mint Crisp Egg and the 440g Dark Chocolate Egg with Mint Creams are free from dairy and egg ingredients.

Whizzer's mini eggs (available in health food stores, some branches of Sainsbury's and the Veganstore below) - about 69p

Booja Booja (http://www.boojabooja.com/) do a large egg with truffles for about £10 - the Hazelnut Crunch Rocher and Around Midnight Expresso varieties are vegan - available from health food shops and Animal Aid below.

The Veganstore (http://www.veganstore.co.uk/) always have a good selection for Easter.

Animal Aid (http://www.animalaid.org.uk/news/2005/0502eggs.htm) now sell Cocoa Tree vegan creme eggs!.

Just baught a Kinnerton easter egg from Waitrose. Last year I had a booja-booja one from vegan store online.

I don't do easter for any biblical reasons as all that religion stuff is not my bag but I do like the odd egg :D .

Here is also another tip to add to gertvegans list of egg tricks, If you are in the creative mood you can save a few quid by making your own as well.

The egg moulds which are just plastic or metal can be bought at most cook shops , the choccy well I always use G & B stuff it works great, just pour in the mold and then join the two halves with more choccy bingo, from a G & B bar the large ones you can get about 2 -3 eggs which is far cheaper, you can also fill the middle of the egg with vegan sweets.

mmmm chocolate!! I cant wait until easter! I usually go crazy and buy loads of chocolate eggs, get given loads from my family and friends and eat them all at once! This usually ends with me being covered in chocolate and feeling very ill soon afterwards. Why cant i be a "everything in moderation kinda girl" instead of a "all the shops are full of eggs so must buy and eat all of them at once kinda girl"!

This place does vegan easter chocolates (http://www.rosecitychocolates.com/vegan_easter_chocolates.htm) . I've had a small box of their regular vegan choccies and they're delicious.

I'm obviously an Easter-Grinch, but what does everyone do at Easter if they have kids to buy for (other people's I mean)? I've got to buy something for my cousin's kids and for some reason, my Mum's cousin's child and I resent feeling I have to buy them a milk chocolate egg, but I know that if I get them a small toy or money or something instead, then I'll have to keep it up as they get older (i.e. giving them more expensive gifts or more money). I'd also feel a bit odd giving them vegan eggs as I know the kids probably wouldn't like the dark chocolate for a start and secondly, the parents would be very frosty with me for inflicting my beliefs on their children. :rolleyes:

Evilfluffbunny, if you can't find easter eggs that aren't dark chocolate, I personally would do up a little gift box/basket with vegan chocs in it. Too bad if people whinge about you imposing your beliefs. I refuse to give my money to things I don't support and, let's face it, chocolate is chocolate to kids!! Sweet William chocolate is fantastic or Green and Blacks maybe.... If you're expected to buy for them, they'll get what they're given :p

I don't think you are inflicting beliefs - you are just complying with your own ethics. You are not telling them to be vegan by giving them vegan eggs. I only buy Robert vegan chocolate, but he buys dairy chocolate for himself.

Among the specialist vegan easter egg section in tescos I found their own brand "free from" easter egg, claiming to be free from dairy etc.

On close examination it turned out NOT to be free fom pork gelatine :mad:

Pangea (www.veganstore.com) has more than just Whizzer's choc eggs. They have chocolate truffle eggs, coconut carrots and jellybeans!! They also have an assortment of chocolate Easter bunny figures. There is also a company in New Jersey that would ship to Europe. It is called Rose City Chocolatiers (www.rccholatier.com). They have the most scrumptious Vegan Belgian chocolates, and also have nice Easter basket stuff. Check it out, but act quickly for over-seas delivery!

To put my 2cents in: I also think we Vegans should not buy stuff that contains animal products for gifts. It is giving money to our animal-oppressor friends! ;)
