Are (non-organic) seedless fruit genetically modified?

I always wondered how they got the "seeds out" of grapes and oranges. Are they GMO?

I'm just curious. I really should be buying organic fruits and veggies but I can't afford it, and my mother who buys most of our groceries really has no interest in buying organic (and not a lot of money either).

I'm thinking it's just the variety of grape grown.

But I'm sure someone with more information can answer in better detail.

If you go to the following url, then scroll down to "Scientific American ask the experts: how do seedless fruits arise and how are they propagated?" you'll find an answer to your question. Basically, when the fruit comes from a non-fertilized flower, it is seedless. http://archives.foodsafetynetwork.ca/agnet/2001/10-2001/agnet_october_3-2.htm#SCIENTIFIC%20AMERICAN
