I have a recipe for a probiotic lemonade but it calls for whey from whole milk yogurt. A google search turned up no reasonable substitutions. any suggestions to make a probiotic lemonade that's vegan?

Just make it without the whey, it's not like probiotics do anything.

You could make it from Probiotic soya yoghurt, there are instructions here (http://www.cheeseslave.com/how-to-make-whey/) for dairy yoghurt which would probably work for soya yoghurt as well

Probiotics just lie around the house not doing anything.

I assume nearly any fermented product with live culture can be considered pro-biotic.
Whey is milk-sugar rich and wee beasties love it: sub with some other dab of sweetener.

Pre-biotic means food for wee beasties already nesting in the gut: they must be gourmets because they love onion and artichoke! Okay, they go for a variety of inulin rich foods.

Does the recipe specify culturing time and temp? I reckon slightly fizzy means done: don't want the beasties choking on their own excrement now do we?

Let us know how the brew does

Probiotiocs is the general public marketing version of stool transplant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fecal_bacteriotherapy

Instead of putting another persons poop up your bum they refined it, grown it in a lab, and then make you eat it. Yum :p

Stool transplants is actually a promising science, eating what the marketing department came up with not so much.

For probiotics I use Co-Yo, which is a 100% vegan coconut milk yoghurt (although I don't know exactly how one would extract it for use in the lemonade)...

I'm not sure if they sell in the USA, but I found this if it's any good? http://www.sodeliciousdairyfree.com/products/cultured-coconut-milk
