Hi guys, normally I'm just a lurker, but I have a question I thought you guys could help me with. My sister has invited my husband and I over for easter dinner- potluck style, along with our brother and some college friends. All of these people are very much omnivourous. After doing thanksgiving with my husband's side of the family and having every single thing I brought called fake (including the apple pie) I just don't want to bring anything that omnivours are going to think is missing something or is weird just because it's vegan.

So far, I'm thinking maybe sauteed mushrooms, some sort of lentil salad, or something along the lines of this salad: http://anunrefinedvegan.com/2012/03/21/white-bean-asparagus-artichoke-heart-salad/

Have any ideas? Or dishes that have gone over well in the past? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm not sure what people eat at Easter in your part of the world but I find that things with pastry go down well with non-vegans. This is one that's usually popular http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2005/dec/17/features.weekend4 (although your people sound particularly picky :) )

I suppose cutting it up might be difficult at a potluck though. Someone posted this recipe on Facebook yesterday and I thought it sounded quite nice http://ohsheglows.com/2012/04/02/lightened-up-spring-stuffing/

Your ideas sound good to me though and as you say nobody is going to accuse them of substituting for anything!

How about Green Bean Casserole? I have heard this is popular in the States: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2006/11/best-vegan-green-bean-casserole.html
