soya yogurt, apple, kiwi fruit + porridge oats

wholemeal roll, olive paste, rocket + tomato slices
3 carrots, yellow pepper

soya cappuccino
strawberries

aubergine calzone
salad (radicchio, tomato, cucumber, red pepper, olives)

might have some lemon sorbet later, it's real hot here

B: Apple

L: Salad with carrots, sprouts, beets & tomatoes; roll; strawberries (Living in Madrid & generally eat lunch in the company cafeteria where there are absolutely no veggie options except the salad bar, everything else contains some kind of animal product!!:))

D: Lentils, tofu & sauteed veggies mixed with soy sauce and a ton of hot sauce

Snacks: Apple; Wheat bread stix

Not very exciting but I am a fairly new vegan and still experimenting!! :o

I think your day looks fairly healthy... what's it like being vegan in meat-orientated Spain?

Thanks pavotrouge! Since you asked... :) it's definitely a challenge!!
On the positive side the fruits and veggie markets are excellent, giving me a chance to taste many new things I've never bothered to try before...and resulting in lot of experimenting in the kitchen. :o On the other hand...there are very few veggie options, let alone vegan choices, on the menus. Even most of the veg or bean-based plates have some sort of pork or egg or dairy mixed in. Also stores don't seem to carry all the soy-based stuff like ice creams, desserts, etc. that I have read about on this board (Tofutti, etc)...hard for me because I have a huge sweet tooth!! The other hard part is the lack of support. My friends here just don't get why the heck I would want to be vegan. People ask me why can't I eat cheese, fish, etc. I am from the US so I think they just chalk it up to another crazy american with strange habits. :D How do you find it in Germany?

breakfast: smart start cereal w/ blueberries & soymilk, green tea

lunch: egless egg salad in wheat pita w/ lettuce & alfalfa sprouts, dill pickle spear, roseberry chocolate

snack: banana, diet pepsi

dinner: baked potato w/ steamed broccoli & faux queso sauce

after work snack: one piece wheat toast w/ pb, red safari spice tea

cup of coffee with soya milk
cup of nettle tea

1 banana
houmous and wholemeal pitta bread

glass of orange and raspberry smoothie

2 gluten-free veggie burgers with veggie bacon rashers, vegan cheese, lettuce and garlic mayonnaise in sesame seed bun
6 battered onion rings with ketchup

4 cognac banana flavour chocolate truffles

(comfort food :o )

For breakfast I had the most amazing coloured smoothie type thing.
Soya milk, banana, frozen mixed summer fruits and a scoop of protien powder. It was a fantastic mauve colour and tasted quite good too :D

Lunch was fake bacon in a wholewheat roll and a massive mug of Earl Grey.

Dinner will be leftover lentil curry and wild rice and maybe a couple of gin and tonics :D

a pear

L: tomato, cucumber, lettuce, black olive and avocado salad
cachew and miso bechamel with nettles on toast
pasta with tofu-basil ricotta and black olives
raspberries and orange fruit salad


2 orange pudding cupcakes
green tea


sweet corn and potato soup
choc cup cake
soya yoghurt
an apple

I ate way too much yesterday so I am not going to post it. I did try Alpro chocolate soya milkshake for the first time though, and it was lovely.

bowl of muesli (bran, rolled oats, essicated coconut, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, chocolate drops) with rice milk

huge fruit salad (pine apple, loquats, pear, orange, banana, lemon juice)
green salad (lettuce, tomatoes, olive oil, vinegar)

1 choc muffin

chickpea flour and fennel bulb omelette with lots of chopped parsley
another green salad

Breakfast was a 'blended salad' of mixed berries, cos lettuce, lentil sprouts, ground flax seed and vanilla flavoured rice milk.

Lunch was eaten on the run so went to the Hare Krishna stand at the local market and got a bean, peppers, tomato and herbs pasty.

Dinner was grilled tempeh with zucchini and broad beans.

1 cup of Blue Lagoon tea.
1 bowl of Acai granola with vanilla soy milk.

1 cup of coffee.
1 maple granola bar.

1 veggie "chicken" breast in Dijon marinade.
organic broccoli, organic orange pepper and organic carrot stir fried in miso sauce/dressing.
1 blackberry spritzer.

1 square of dark chocolate.

1 cup of Sleepytime tea.
2 pieces of vegan chocolate banana cake.

biekie - could mean ' a bit' or 'some' - in Afrikaans this is spelt bietjie.

it's bicky spelt wrong, it's a burger or veggieburger with the 3 kinds of bicky sauce in it, very nice!

doing a detox-y thing today

a plum, a big bunch of red grapes, a nectarine, an apple, a pear and a banana (not all at once!)

big salad (spinach, rocket, parsley, sorrel, raisins, broccoli, avocado, tomato)

a lot of water,
3/ 4 cups green tea (even though it has caffeine in it I think)
