I ate a load of sugary crap today! I made a lot of baked goodies to take into work on Friday. I was going to hand them around and plug World Vegan Day but they didn't come out as fantastic as I expected so I just put them out in a meeting and told most people it was because it was Halloween (did tell a few people about WVD though).
So today I've had bread rolls I was going to make into cinnamon buns but ran out of time on, lemon and ginger fairy cakes (which are just right today, but yesterday were too tough - they're the kind of ginger cake that needs to mature :(), and a slice of vanilla choc orange cake.
Non cake wise I've had peas, crisps, potato waffles and veggie hotdogs. Oh, and some freshly squeezed orange juice. So that's two out of five a day. Must try harder!

Breakfast: Leftover Gardein meatballs in smoky onion gravy, with roast potatoes.
Lunch: Sandwiches from Canterbury Wholefood. It's great that they are selling them prepacked now, and not too expensive. Some five-spice flavoured water melon seeds. These must rate as the least edible food in the whole world. It's like chewing walnut shells. They do actually taste nice when you get some juice out of them, but you still have a mouthful of sharp bits. Are you supposed to spit that bit out?
Dinner: Poppadoms, onion salad, cucumber and mint raita, hot pickles. Vegetable chickpea broad bean rogan josh with brown pilau rice.
Banana.

I have been awake since 2.30 this morning (totally my own fault for drinking the evil coke yesterday ) and so it feels like it should be much later and so I have been really hungry:
So far:
A banana
Soya cheese with crackers and pure spread
A lovely grated carrot and houmous sandwich yum yum
Green tea and water
I'm still hungry, I think I will have another one of those sandwiches as the houmous has to be eaten up by today anyway and maybe some more fruit.

I have a (quite urgent) question: is it really necessay to take the sides off green beans?
What about courgettes? Can I boil them unpeeled?
flying plum
Nov 3rd, 2008, 12:26 PM
i never peel courgettes. i'm not sure what you mean by the 'sides' of green beans (and it rather depends what kind of green beans you mean). i take the stringy bits off the sides of beans that have them, like runner beans, cos they don't taste great with them on - all stringy and tough... i slice thinly down the sides of them with a sharp knife.

Nov 3rd, 2008, 12:29 PM
Yes, I did meant the stringy bits. I lack the time and the patience to take them off though, so I guess I'll have to eat them "all stringy ant tough" ;)
Thank you for your answer.
