Hi Woodsie,
Well, I just put a big spoon of molasses in boiling water. I started this for the iron and really like it now. I first heard about it in Benjamin Zephaniah's poem 'Vegan Delight' which I have stuck on my fridge! There might be a more complicated recipe somewhere.

Interesting! I started making homemade vegan baked beans with lots of organic molasses. DO you know how much iron you get in that? Also does the iron in the Molasses get cooked out when I bake it?

Hi Painterlady,
I just looked up on my iron chart. You get 3.6mg of iron in a tablespoon of molasses.
We need 14.8mg per day so it's a pretty useful source. I don't know about what you might lose in cooking it. I would be interested in your baked bean recipe when you have it to hand :-)

I had a comfort food day today. That's okay because I needed comforting

2 cups of coffee with Silk creamer.

1 sandwich: Rustic 3 Korn (yes they spell it with a "K") bread, 4 Tofurkey hickory slices, vegan mayo, cranberry sauce.

1 cup of Ginger Twist tea.

6 dark chocolate/peppermint thins.

1 blueberry bagel with Tofutti cream cheese and Cloudberry Jam.

2 vegan "chicken" style tacquitos with sweet chilli sauce.

1 bowl of Tuscan Bean & Sweet Basil soup with
1 slice of Rustic 3 Korn bread.

Later I might have a cup of Echinacea tea and maybe a cookie or 2, but I'm not sure yet.

There must be a different kind out there... because I got some a long time ago, and I didn't like them. I didnt read them though, to see what flavor they are. Everyone asked me if I was going to get a tofurkey for Thanksgiving, and since I didn't like those slices year ago, I didnt get one. Everyone seems to be raving about it.. I need to try it again. Are there different flavors???? (I'm really limited where I live as far as selection, but I can make a trip if there are diffrent kinds hehe, my tummy rules my life like that)

I think there are 3 different flavours:

plain
hickory smoked
italian

My fave is the hickory smoked. I also love the Tofurkey sausages (especially the Italian ones) and the Tofurkey roast.

I never tried the actual "fake turkey" but I have tried the slices. The hickory comes in the brown box and it's really good. Some other flavour comes in the blue box and it's okay but not as good as hickory. There's another kind in a green box, but I never tried it yet.

There's some type of cranberry sauce and stuffing, or something like that that's wonderful too. I also like te hickory snoked. Awhile ago, I tried the plain and didn't like it, so I'd highly recommend those, Vegan Barbie! :)
