im making a coconut cream pie tonight, and it calls for 3 tablespoons of arrowroot flour. the grocery store didnt have this, so does anyone know if i can substitue corn starch for arrowroot flour?

Is that arrowroot powder? It's a thickener. It should work. :)

I have never actually used arrowroot, but I was just wondering if there was a reason it is called for more in vegan recipes instead of cornstarch. Is there a benefit to using arrowroot?

It thickens a sauce while staying almost completely clear, whereas cornstarch will whiten the sauce, so it's often used for things if a clear sauce is desired (e.g. glaze on fruit tarts, where you want the colour of the fruit to come through uninterrupted)
