yum! definitely let us know if turns out well. speaking of cinnamon things.. I made my first homemade bread this weekend: cinnamon raisin whole wheat bread, from a recipe i found on vegweb. i hope your venture turns out more successful than mine! haha. my bread was very dry and not that tasty.

Hey you should share that recipe you found. Or just give me the link. I've been attempting to make bread.. few unsucessful tries [bread very VERY dense and didn't rise at all] but i'm working on it. Tomorrow i may make a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread or try and experiment with making blackberry muffins of some sort.

well i'll share it.. but i dont know if you caught what i said afterward-- it didn't turn out very well; it was pretty dry and not very tasty! but maybe you can tweak it somehow if you know anything about baking bread to make it better. who knows, maybe I did something wrong. here is the recipe:

Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Serving Size : 8

1 cup flour

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp allspice

1/4 tsp nutmeg

2 tsp cinnamon

1 cup sour soy milk (soy milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, sift together the flours, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and spices. Stir in the milk, sweetener, raisins and nuts. Mix together gently until "just mixed." Spoon into a lightly oiled loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes. Test with a knife to see if done. Let the bread sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Makes 1 loaf.

im making these for steev today as a surprize. im going to make icing to top them as follows:

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
4 c. powdered sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
3 to 4 tbsp. milk

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat until butter turns brown. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla until desired consistency. Icing should be slightly runny. Drip over buns.

obviously vegan version ingredients.

ill tell you all how it goes!

okay so i made them.

i made a mistake though. i didnt let them sit long enough to rise after i set them out on the baking sheet, and i also didnt sit them together. i set them all seperate. (youre supposed to put them all together in the middle of the baking sheet and let them rise for 30 minutes so they all get fluffy and mush together.)

so mine turned out a little crispy and not fluffy enough, but regardless they were still really good! if you mush them together and let them rise long enough than theyll be great.

rolling out the dough is hard work though!

i also found that this recipe helped me alot, it was more descriptive but it was pretty much the same recipe:

Mmmm these sound a bit like Hot Cross Buns, a baking delicacy I get addicted to each Easter and whose dissapearance I mourn each summer :D
