How will over 200,000 mother pigs in Australia spend their Mother's Day? On factory farms... cruelly imprisoned.

As Mother's Day approaches please spare a moment to send an important message. Tragically for these animals, pregnancy and motherhood has become a cycle of suffering and misery. They need your help.

Imagine... a life without sunshine, fresh air and exercise. Imagine... having
only a cold hard floor to stand or lie on. Imagine... being a parent and not
being able to nurture, teach and interact with your young. Imagine... a life
without hope.

This is the life of a mother pig in a factory farm.

Watch this video and learn the truth.

Mothers day in the UK was a few weeks ago. We handed out some leaflets about "Britains hardest working mother" the dairy cow http://www.viva.org.uk/pdfs/mothersday_dl.pdf
Its a good idea to use mothers day to highlight the plight of farm animals.

You're right maisiepaisie, no doubt that's why the savebabe campaign brought the plight of mother pigs to our attention.

I did a bit on Mothers day too, using the viva leaflets. Next year I want to hopefully have a big street collection/stall on the day highlighting all of it.

eve, that video is so sad...it brought tears to my eyes, like pretty much all factory farming videos. The eyes of the animals express unbelievable pain and sadness:(:(:(

Too right, Willow. The despair in the pigs’ eyes is so palpable

just the thought of this saddens me. it too makes me guilty that i have not given my mom anything for her special day, a simple mothers day poem (http://www.cakeandaprayer.com/cake-shop-by-occasion/Mothers-Day-Prayer-Gift.php) would've made her happy. :(
