You have not seen me yet Red. I am quite big. My body adapts very quickly. Don't be surprised if beat the crap out of Schwarzenegger! :)
Even though I am more of a strength man who's not a bodybuilder, I can attest that Kiran is built rather like a young Arnie.

The contest has started, so thanks to those of you from this site who have joined us! You can still enter last minute up until April 15th. It is not really even a contest against others, just to improve your own health and fitness and get rewarded for it. It also helps bring awareness to the vegan fitness lifestyle, which we enjoy doing.
Thanks!

I posted this on my forum a while ago for people to see my vegan bodybuilding transformation in a few sample photos. It acts as a tool to inspire others to go vegan and thrive, so I like to share my experience.
I've been vegan for 10 years, and about 6 years ago I got into bodybuilding. Here is what the transformation has looked like:

Hey, great stuff, when i knock the cake on the head i might get into some proper fitness. Went down the gym for the first time in a couple of months yesterday, went pretty well, did some running on Thursday (trying to get to meet Catmogg only 45 minutes late) i'll do a bit of cycling tomorrow, and maybe a bit of running in the week.

Thanks for that link, Robert. My husband has been very impressed with your transformation and I think my personal trainer at my gym would definitely like to see this!

hi people, ok so i've been on a vegan diet for about 6 months now. started weight training about 16 weeks ago and i've gained 10 lbs (140lbs). but recently i lost 3 lbs. it's been difficult for me to maintain a 2,700 cal/day diet. i also take sport formula powder.
so my problem is, i need to gain more muscle mass.
i've read about sum supplements that according to the ingredients they don't have animal products and by products.
and am i even supposed to be taking artificial products since i'm a vegan?
does anyone here know what's in anator p70
i don't want to use creatine
and do those supplements in the muscle magazines really work. has anyone tried them?
what about 'natural' testosterone boosters?
thanks so much for your help.

I saw some natural protein powders in a vegan shop the other day. I didn't look at the brand. They had quinoa, hazelnut, almond and many other types and no added vitamins and minerals. Anyway, I'm sure the bodybuilding vegan guy on this forum can help you.

Personnally i don't see a problem with supllementing protien levels when training. I too find it difficult to maintain my weight when training properly. I have in the past taken Soya protien (bought from Holland & Barrett) and a rice protien imported from the states.
The main reason i haven't taken them more is because they taste vile:eek: but i know alot of vegans that weight train / bodybuild and supplement. Also i never tried for competitions etc.. mine was just a fitness / strength thing so as long as i was making gains no matter how slow, i didn't worry about the supplements.

I am not sure if these lot are easy to get anymore, atleast with Holland and Barretts. I have been chasing them for weeks now for the Soy Protien supplement. The store manager told me that they have been experiencing severe delays in getting them from U.S. I was told the stocks would be in soon.

I am now at the 6 week mark for this contest. Things are going great for both of us and we have felt muscle soreness in areas we didn't even know we had!
I have not been cutting back on calories that much (although I have given up alcohol except the occasional glass of wine on weekends) at this point. I've lost a few pounds but my pants are definitely getting loose. I take this as a sign that I am putting on muscle mass while losing some fat. I'll probably start cutting back on calories for the next few weeks if it doesn't compromise my energy level in the gym.
Thanks again for joining this forum and posting this thread, Robert. Even though I work out regulary and am at an optimal weight I really needed this!!:)

yes but are vegans supposed to take 'man-made' supplements such as this new 'breakthrough' supplement anator p70 or 'nos'? i can't even find an ingredients list for thos products. currently i take sport formula and calorie bars and soya protein power, but i wonder about those other supplements.

I was just featured in this Southern California Magazine and they put the interivew online. I think it is a pretty good article about vegan nutrition for athletes. Feel free to read it here:

Hey everyone, I assume this is the area to express excitement.
I just got copies of Hippocrates magazines in the mail. They have a big 4-page 5 photo feature about me and my Vegan Bodybuilding lifestyle. It was my 15th magazine feature, so it's a nice milestone for me. Hopefully there will be many more.
Some of the magazines I've been featured in are: FLEX, Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness, VegNews, Beyond Fitness, Vegetaren, Hippocrates, and a handful of others.
Anyway, it is just another way to get veganism in mainstream media, and in a really unique way. Who would have ever thought veganism and bodybuilding would go together?.......I did about 6 years ago, and it has been awesome ever since!

Congrats Body Builder!
I saw you in VegNews a few months back...I had never bought it before and was flipping through it at the store and saw your picture. I was like, "Hey, I know that guy! I guess this magazine is for me..."
Hee hee - you were responsible for a sale!
The magazine is great, I should subscribe to it.

Time for me to put on some weight!
I've been the same weight for the past couple of years and it is 15-20 pounds lighter than I was in 2003. So I gotta get back to whatever it was that had me around 200 lbs with low bodyfat.
So that is what I'll be working on.
I returned to squats, starting taking a few more protein supplements, and just gotta get consistent again. I'll compete once or twice later this year, but I'll bulk up leading up to the contest, the opposite of what you are supposed to do. Basically I'll compete in the middle of my bulking season, but it will be fun and I think it might actually work out just fine :)

Time to lose the veins and put some mass back on!!!!
Anyone else working on similar goals? I've been vegan for 11 years and added about 70 pounds since I first went vegan but with a bunch of recent contests and more stress, I lost some of the weight.
So who else is working on gaining weight, rather than losing weight? We can work on it together :)

Wow, that's an amazing body! I'm not trying to build up or lose weight, but I just wanted to say well done for representing! :)
