View Full Version : Organic fair-trade gift for mother and child?

My cousin is having her first child around 29 July, and I want to give her some nice end a bit unusual as a gift.

She is not vegan, and I don’t want to use the birth as a political statement, but to give her something nice, that is vegan, nice, useful and if possible organic and fair-trade.

The one thing I know I am going to buy is one chunk of http://www.chagrinvalleysoapandcraft.com/castile.htm and I hope to find some babyclotes soon.

Since her due date is so soon, I have to find somewhere to order as fast as possible. So does anyone her know about a good company that sells really organic and preferably also fair-traded baby clothes, and not just says that the clothes is ethical? Or have a tip on brand names I can use in google? One other thing that unfortunately is necessary is that it has to be under 32 $, or it will be added on so much customs fees that I cant afford it.

Any help or tips would be highly appreciated :)

What I have found out until now:

http://www.americanapparelstore.com/shippinginfo.html
Ok prices on the products, and 20 $ in shipping. Looking in to that one.

http://www.beamingbaby.co.uk/
Ok on price, specially on the sale, but I have difficulties understand what stands on the shipping page.

http://www.spiritofnature.co.uk/
Good prices on baby underwear (and in this heat I guess it can be used as the only clothes). Shipping seems also to be ok. I see they will contact me before they process the order, and then I guess that some baby clothes cant be THAT heavy.

http://www.greenbaby.co.uk/
Ok shop, but whit 35 £ in shipping I don’t think that is the shop for me.

So for now, I am mostly considering Spirit of nature. It is UK based, and from former experience the shipping take normally less than one week, sometimes up to two. So if they send it out reasonably fast it will come before I travel.

I am planning on using 17 £ that is just the limit before the customs starts to make a fuzz. So if anyone know about some of the products there that is a “must have”, or any warning of any products of poor quality, just shout out.

Thanks for all the help, and just keep them coming :D
