What songs, lyrics, music, or CD's have gotten you through tough times when things seem to be falling apart and to be getting worse and worse?
This was inspired by a question on The Ask Game. *nod to Vegcurry for the inspiration*. There seem to be some serious bibliophiles on here, so I thought we needed a game to express that. It's pretty simple really. Ask questions relating to books. The original question of "go to your...
I saw Transglobal Underground in Bristol last week, an unexpected pleasure as we didn't know there was a free music event on!
Has anyone else seen this film? It came out this year. I recently saw No Impact Man at a weekly social justice film screening. It's about a man and his family who decide to try to reduce their environmental impact to zero while living in New York City. The family becomes vegetarian, eats only...
Clint Eastwood is an awesome sexy old man. :)
U2 and Green Day - The Saints are Coming. I haven't even heard it recently.
What songs do you remember loving/singing along to as a kid, but now listen to and think, "this is much/racier/more violent/drug-addled/"adult" in theme than I thought it was!" You know, the songs you naively thought were just about dancing/had a good beat/whatever, and now sound a lot different...

This drummer is at the wrong gig!
Is anyone else really into these books? I ignored the hype for a while and finally Twilight peaked my interest. I am now reading it for the second time. I have New Moon and Eclipse ready on my shelf. In a way I can't wait to read them and in another way I'm afraid I won't like them as much as the...
Hello everyone, I'm a vegan society uk member, and get the vegan magazine every quarter. I was wondering what similar magazines others get, whether it be vegan, animal, enviroment etc....
Recently became Vegan, looking for some reading. Recently Read "The Kind Diet" by Alicia Silverstone. Any suggestions are much appreciated. New here, :D
I was wondering if other people assume their fave characters in films books etc just must be veg*n? Like in the eternal sunshine (my fave film ever) I just assume that Joel must be veg*n because I respect and like him so much as a character. If you do this, what characters do you think would be...
hey up all... I was kinda bored and voila... this thread!!!! :D At some point in our life most of us would have been big fans of quite a few animated movies. There is a kid in many of us, no matter how old we are... I mean, I still have a kid in me although, I don't wet my bed anymore :D . I...

Anyone read this book yet? I just finished it, short read. BTW John Joseph is vegan and everything in the book plus recipes are vegan. I thought it was a pretty entertaining read and I was surprised I learned a few things from it. I'm not really sure who the book is supposed to appeal the title...
I've been wanting to get into reading some books on feminism, not so much in a historical sense (as I've read many a book on history of it) but moreso in a spiritual rah-rah go girl sense, if you get what I mean. Something I'll bet Tori Amos would absolutely love. Anybody have suggestions of...
I searched the forums and couldn't find a thread on Food, Inc. I'm surprised. Am I missing something? I just watched this film for my Green Politics class. Next week I have to give a group presentation on food/agriculture and what that has to do with green politics. It's actually going to take...
Does anyone remember a novel that came out in the early 1990s that was about these twins (a boy and a girl, I think) who were AR activists? There was some kind of tie-in with NASA, also. I didn't read it myself, but bought it for a friend (who was a twin!) It was published by a small press, I...
I have been spending hours this weekend watching Samurai Champloo. It is awesome. The art is brilliant and it's got some really good stories to it. Haven't really watched anime in years, but am getting interested again! Anybody else like anime? Any favourite shows?
has anyone got any theories on the show? i've watched it for six years and have spent hours on the american abc forum trying to get some answers, just thought i'd ask???!!!
...inspired by the Book Lovers version... :D How many movies do you own?
This film is neat and inspiring. I'm glad the soldiers described as Jedi are portrayed as compassionate towards animals (after the death of a goat). The Jedi depicted in the Star Wars films seemed to generally avoid the ideas of vegan philosophy.
Hi, anyone else here enjoy Visual Kei? I'm still pretty new to it you could say I guess though I have been listening to a select few bands for a while now. I like The Gazette, Dir En Grey, Malice Mizer, Alice Nine, An Cafe and Miyavi's older stuff. Don't know what Visual Kei is? Wikipedia seems...

Clint Mansell & Kronos Quartet - Summer Overture If I had to name a favorite song, this would probably be it.
I'm just wondering where you guys buy/acquire your books (regular reading novels, or whatever really). Brand new from a store? Borrowed from a library? Borrowed from a friend? Used from a discount store of some kind? I used to buy my books brand new, usually from Chapters/Indigo. I like my...
