I'm there :D :D :D
It's getting them back to Bendigo without them defrosting that will be the problem!
Trust me, you wont make it a block with them....:D
I'll bring a spoon and let hubby drive for once ;)
 Please pardon my ignorance, Treehugga, but do the vegetarian Seventh Day-ers really support McDonalds??? :confused:Quote:

Your not ignorant lovey. It's just that I'm a full on mega corporate dispiser (actually I'm a social worker who is right into human and animal rights) so I make it my business to be informed re corporate horrors and then I send letter and write articles re their blunders. You will no doubt be writing to me in prison one day ;) . Anyway I digress. MacDonalds have purchased their veggie burger patties from Sanitarium (run by the Seventh Day Adventists) as a money making scheme. I'm not against Seventh Day Adventists per say, just that assisting MacDeath really riled me especially from a so-called health food company.Quote:

I've been boycotting sugar but cracked under work pressure this week.
I found some blueberry cheescake tofutti. It was unusual and too sweet but did taste like cheesecake. I also bought some of those leda tim-tam-like biscuits. They have changed the recipe/presentation for the better.
Back to anti-sugar now.
I go to a 7thDA shop (interestingly, the don't stock Sanitarium). They have really helped me out with health issues. However, they really like honey.
Thanks Treehugga ... and if you do land in prison, leave a message here and I'll bake you a delicious vegan cake with a file in it! :DQuote:

That would be great. It would almost be worth the scandal for the publicity against Macs ;)
Hhhmmmmm ... vegan-prison-break ... :cool:Quote:

I just received some Cheezly mozzarella cheese from cruelty free and it is divine. I had it on my pizza last night yummmmm. It was quite expensive to order though as you have to get it delivered in a large foam cool box. Next time I will order more as 1 pack isn't going to go very far. It's all natural with no nasty additives etc. Try it. I highly recommend it.
Are the rumours true? Is Cheezly available in Australia now? I haven't seen it anywhere around in Adelaide... :confused:Quote:
treehugga
Yes. My goodness Imapeach, you really must subscibe to 'Vegan Voice' they have all the latest news. You can order it through 'cruelty free' and you can also subscribe, for free, to their newsletter which they email to you with all the latest products as well as articles etc.:) You won't find it in any shops yet as it is only imported through vegan perfection to the best of my knowledge and they supply it to 'cruelty free'.Quote:

Gah! Fine... I'm a bad vegan :p
I never subscribed to VV because I would always just read the copy at my local veg cafe. But just haven't been there much lately.
btw, I like ur yahoo avatar! Mine is so much hotter than I am in reality :p
Well if my local cafe had a copy, I would rely on that as well ;)Quote:
Imapeach
Yes my avatar is actually based on me although the real thing is of course, much sexier looking:D
I shop at the cruelty free shop too. Thanks for the heads up about the cheese. What are the ingredients? Is it yeast or soy based? Yeasty stuff often disagrees with me but I want a pizza with cheese.
It's mainly soy but it does contain yeast extract. I don't think it has much it doesn't taste yeasty at all.Quote:

Here are the ingredients:
water, non hydrogenated vegetable fats and oils, soy protein, starch, thickeners, carrageenan, locust bean gum, salt, yeast extract, emulsafying salts, calcium phosophate, potassium phosphate, raw cane sugar, flavour, herbs, spices, colour, annatto, beta carotene.
Now if only they'de make a good vegan camembert and brie
Thanks to all that posted on this thread, I've got some shopping to do!
Enjoy ;)
Thank you for the cheese info. I have some info for chocoholics. My mother tracked them down.
Woolworths has a range of 'tim tam' type biscuits in their gluten free range. I've scanned the ingredients and they seem OK but they do say 'vitamin D' which is sometimes vegan and sometimes not. I wonder if I could find out. They have some choc/coconut biscuits too.
I found cheezly at my local health shop the other day, and i bought the super melting edam variety, it is great, i had it on a baked potato, and i think it tasted just as i remember real cheese to taste, it was perfect :)
Uncle Eddie's Vegan Cookies can be ordered online. http://www.uncleeddiesvegancookies.com/chipoatmeal.html
The oatmeal chocolate chip are my favorite flavor at the moment. The peanut butter/chocolate chip and plain chocolate chip are really good too. The trail mix ones are good as well, HELL, THEY'RE ALL GOOD!!
Fortunately (or unfortunately to be honest) my local grocery carries them.
Hi Monkey
This thread is for favourite vegan products in Australia. I don't think they can get these cookies there - unless Unlce Eddie ships overseas.
Do any melbournites know where to get chocolate Leda bars???
They have them in Geelong hospital but I have not seen them anywhere else!
I have recently discovered Amy's soups. The black bean was very tasty, if a tad burpy... :o
Tangerine and Rice Crisp are my favs!! why no cocoa? is there something non-vegan about it I don't know!!??
Also, alot (ok, most) of the products Australians have listed are not available to me!! I live in a regional area where vege food is expensive and hard to find. Coles have a great range of sanitarium vege delights (like soy sausages, soy bacon, soy ice cream, etc) and toffutti range (like cream cheese and cheese, soy yoghurt).... I've been meaning to do some investigation as to whether or not these vege products are vegan (doesn't say 'vegan friendly' on the back)....
At that time I was meant to be avoiding caffiene - I eat it now though :D
Go to www.vnv.org.au to find out if those products are vegan or not :)
Hello Aussiekids
A lot of the products mentioned here I <3 as well:
Mintons/Choculence, Orgran products, sometimes I get Plamil, Sweet William, Green & Blacks, Artisse or Cocoloco chocolate.
I like Planet Organic's brown rice porridge with Vitasoy rice milk. I love Spiral foods, Pitango soups and PilPel dips and soups (www.pilpelfinefoods.com.au)
There are some new potato chips out called Thomas Chipman (www.chipman.com.au) the potato versions are vegan, the corn chips are not (contains dairy).
Corn crispibread with tahini or avocado.
Naturis Buckwheat or Rice Bread.
I don't mind Cheezly, but I don't buy it too often. And I want to try the Plamil mayonaise, but Crows Nest Macro was out of stock last time I was there..
Fry's have left a message on another forum that I belong to that their vegan food products will be available in Franklins stores from May 1, 2008. If your local Franklins doesn't have them ask for the store manager. I spole to my local manager yesterday and he is going to try and get the full range.

Found a new product today: I&J Tasty Spring Rolls (the mini finger food kind).
They are marked 'suitable for vegetarians' but I can't see anything in the ingredients which would classify them as non-vegan.
I found Fry's Veggie Burgers in my local Woolies, they weren't too bad.
I have also tried Sweet William's new White Chocolate, it is so good!!
Also, the Cruelty Free Shop (www.crueltyfreeshop.com.au) now has Sweet and Sara Marshmallows in stock! They are delish and pretty close to 'real' 'mallows.
You will love them!!
And sorry, Dalron! I have eaten too much of the white choc too, hopefully they're out of stock for a while so I can't buy more!
