Think I told this before ...
I met an Indian lady at the airport (she worked on security but refused me the full cavity search) about a year ago.
Convo started up because she was eating something vegan-looking that I didnt recognise - turned out be red skinned peanuts boiled in salt. Delicious those were, btw!
During the convo she told me that untill she came to England she didn't know there was any such thing as a vegetarian.
That being because in her whole life she had never ever met, nor heard of, anyone who wasn't one.
Apparently the vegetarians In India outnumber the entire population of America.
