what a cute nickname though!
Ya, i tried it, and its good. I dont mind mock meats, xcept when they really taste like it (There's this product that looks like really wide sausage rolls, and it tast way too similar. Freaked me out. Even my dad, who aint vege, said... sry, but my body is telling me that this is meat! but ne ways lol). I luv variety. What sux tho, is that MOST of these mock meats containt sooo much sodium! Find out the daily requirements for sodium for cold and hawt days, an u'll c that, when u eat those mock meats, ya gotta watch ur whole days sodium intake! :PQuote:

Other than that, I LUV Tofu! XD And I like werking out, body buildn and what not, so i even have fun with sports nutrition. Like Rice Protein pwd by Nutribiotics! That stuff is the bomb (just dont get plain, cuz yuk :P try Vanilla) and totally Vegan. Its nice to have a protein pwd other than soy.
Why can't I wote on them all at once ??? :D
(except the supplements and the fake meat!)
What's TVP ?
My favourites are split peas, closely followed by cashew and macadamia nuts.
Hi, I've never tried it, but we have a thread about Textured Vegetable Protein here...Quote:

I like beans.
*farts*
:)
-Red beans, black beans, broad beans, kidney beans, lima beans, aduki beans, mung beans etc
-Chick peas, chick pea flour or chick pea meals like falafel, hummus, chana masala
-Tofu
-Miso, tamari (soy sauce)
-Soy milk
-Split peas, black-eyed peas or other peas/legumes
-Almonds, cashew / pistachio / brazil / hazel/ pecan nuts etc
-Sunflower seeds: roasted, raw or in food
-Pumpkin (squash/watermelon) seeds / kernels
-Flax seeds, hemp seeds or other protein rich seeds
-Wheat bran, wheat germ, wholemeal wheat flour
-Seaweed: kelp, spirulina...
-Wholemeal rye (ie. in bread)
-Brussel sprouts, spinach, brocolli or other nutrient rich green vegetables
-Mock meats, veggie burgers etc (only Boca original, though)
-Protein supplements like protein bars, protein powder (Luna bars!)
All the others, I've either never tried before (TVP, Seitan, Lentils, Tahini & Quinoa), or am allergic to (peanuts, but not seriously or fatally thank goodness). :D
Yes, beans are very good. (quietly opens window)Quote:

Lentils are my fav, but peanut butter comes in close as a second.
I think beans in general and peanutbutter are the biggest contributors to my protein intake :)Quote:
Korn
a box of soy milk a day
Beans on toast :) Apparently there's more protein in spaghetti on toast though (reasearch carried out by my boyfriend :))
woah, chickpeas are really popular!
My faves are also chickpeas and hummus, lentils are very close, tho I gradually like soy products more and more!
lentils are the best in my opinion..followed by plain old tofu...those 2 things always make me feel very energised...bananas are good also..and nuts
actually that whole list is good
Bananas are good, but in case you didn't know - unlike the food on this list (most of these plants contain circa 10% protein or more), they aren't very rich in protein (they contain 1-2%).
I voted for chickpeas and gram flour as they are my favourites, but I do have to be careful not to eat it too often as I have a history of developing sensitivities to things I eat to often.
but I didnt realise you could vote for more than one !!!
I often cook with tvp so that my omni family eat vegan with me. and I use lots of beans, grains etc.
so I could have ticked so many boxes.
ah well

Lentils are my favoirite at moment. And I love the richness of peanut butter sometimes.
I didn't realise there was quite a lot protein in spinach or brocolli - cool.
I really enjoy having 'mock meats' occasionally but I couldn't eat them all the time.
It's so convenient to just take something out of packet and put in sandwich. I ate a box of those sage sausages that you can eat straight out of package the other day and they were lovely.
I have to try other stuff like seitan and quinoa to see if I like them.
I don't really like houmus as much as I used to but I do love falafal sometimes - have to be in right mood though.
*LOL* Korn, I really don't know why I typed "bananas" as a protein source... I know they don't have much, I just love them and got carried away, I guess... should go back to the "angry banana" avatar.
:) Don't forget that this is a Multiple Choice Poll.Quote:
So would semen be under seeds, or nuts?
lentils and chickpeas..do eat other stuff..as in listed above in poll choices, but lentils and chickpeas get a thumbs up from me
I had to go with the mixed nuts. I've never met a nut I didn't like.
^^^^^^^
i almost just made a bad joke about the nuts comment ... but decided against it for all your sakes'
:D
My favourite protein source is whatever food happens to pass my lips, I find the question odd, like what citrus fruit is your favourite source of vitamin C?
Unless you have really restricted (and odd) eating habits it really is a moot point.
And Korn, if you fancy trying TVP, let me know and I'll mail you a sweet & sour flavoured pot noodle. :)
Thanks, Risker - I've never tried it, I don't think it's possible to be it here in Norway, where I currently live.Quote:

I hope the TVP flavor is more juicy than it's name. :)
TVP doesn't really doesn't taste of much unless you cover it in strong sauce, as in Pot Noodles. shame they're made by Procter & Gamble.
ah..tvp.
soak it up in boiled kettle water (see how appetising i'm making it sound?) with a pinch of marigold bouillon powder..plate on top of your bowl and leave it for a bit so it absorbs the stock type liquid then bung it into whatever youre making.
loads of flavour then ;)
I could have checked the whole list, but I left a few blank. ;)
I'm just looking at what I'm eating as I type this, and most of it is protein: Tofurky sausage in a whole wheat bun, sauteed fava beans, salad with tahini dressing and sprouts and raw peas on it.
When people ask where I get my protein, I should say, "Where don't I get my protein?"
Marigold is a brand name.

tofu and soymilk
:)
2 foods i couldnt live without
hummus, after sport protein drink, soy milk, nuts and beans
I love broccoli, I didn't even know it had protein, I guess I just figure I get enough of it anyway :D
I also love beans, and hummus.
omg omg i can't live one day without soya milk :D
Hummus without a doubt.
