I didn't get any Easter eggs..........:(
nor did i, sandra, but i ate half of my son's G&B one, and half his whizzers mini eggs!
Those little mini eggs are lovely aren't they Cobweb? :)
That is so frustrating Cedarblue.........but I did laugh at the term 'batty in-laws' :D
Yes I shall have to ration my choc as aunt and uncle have brought me a wonderful cocoa pod egg from hotel choc aswell as my others!
http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/Dark-...-Eggs-P450070/
With dark choc i can only eat a little in one go so this lot will keep me going to christmas:) will be taking some to work to share and can use some in cooking for family as i wont manage it all.
you have a really thoughtful and supportive family alisont!
Aww thanks, they really do spend time finding the vegan options for me:) which is really nice!
OMG I just got my CASE of Whizzers Speckled eggs in the mail today! I heard about them years ago and thought they were only available in the UK. Well a few weeks ago someone brought a case of Cadbury mini-eggs to work to sell to raise money for breast cancer. I used to love mini-eggs (oh, that crunchy coating!!!) and I was mighty tempted by them staring at me in the office every day! So I went online and looked at veganstore.com for Whizzers eggs, and they had some for $2.39 a pack! I ordered 12 and it only cost $9 to ship from Maryland! And they are SO good, they totally satisfied my craving for Cadbury mini-eggs :D
I should have ordered more though, I'm going to go through these before the weekend is over :o
How bloody annoying the shops are this year. We went to Sainsbury's last night to get all the eggs for the family etc. This year Kinnerton are doing a great range of Milk Chocolate eggs which, last year, was vegan. There was one egg we could have and that was a silly price.
I don't personally like Easter or celebrate it (side issue but Christians must take offence at the chocolate celebration of this time of year, As Bill Hicks said ''i don't remember a chocolate f***ing bunny in the bible'') I have never felt comfortable giving/ receiving eggs, but have sent them to the kids etc in the family. We always try to get vegan stuff as gifts but are finding it hard to do so this year. I know there are lots of vegan eggs about but i do not wish to have to pay a lot of money for something I don't like doing and we are quite skint really.
Oh well yet another moan and another company stepping away from vegany goodness.
i noticed that Kinnerton have gone for milk chocolate this year as well, it is a shame but i guess the dark chocolate ones weren't that popular. they are aimed at kids and i would imagine kids generally prefer milk chocolate (although i always liked dark chocolate when i was a kid).
i've seen Lindt dark chocolate bunnies in Sainsburys which seem to be vegan, someone mentioned them as being vegan in another thread on here, i'll probably email them as well to make sure.
Cool, thanks.
I noticed that Lush are doing some Easter products (little bath bombs shaped like bunnies and eggs). Perhaps that could be an alternative gift for some people.
I saw an easter egg today in the Co-op near me, it was Celtic or something like that, labelled vegan in big letters on the front. An egg with some mint chocolate thins as well, £5.99.
We got Simpsons dairy free eggs from Morrisons for £1.99 each.
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2534/img3069e.jpg
They also had divine chocolate eggs that were about £10 each and there were Green & Blacks eggs but as we all know, they're not vegan. http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/9780/whistling.gif
Yes I noticed this too. I don't usually buy easter eggs as my girls get given at least one by family members and that seems plenty seeing as its all a load of b**l**ks anyway!
I was looking for one of the kinerton ones this year tho to replace a cadburys milk chocolate egg that one of the girls won at a school disco and I had to forcably remove from her and had her cry all the way home (don't imagine a tiny child she's nearly 11 and we had a jolly good argument).
But I got her a punnet of strawberries instead - which she loved!
I think Lush things or just a really nice bar of vegan chocolate are a good alternative.
I scoured the internet trying to find my little one an egg but the postage costs were  so hubby visited a chocolate shop on the mainland and she's now having one handmade in Athens and then hubby and the shop owner are going to hand decorate it for her :D He's not enquired as to the cost yet so I dread to think! Wonder if she'll share it with me? Probably not, she's only 5 and a chocolate junkie :)
We used to get the Kinnerton bars, eggs and kids eggs (like Simpsons themed ones) here in Aust. too but I haven't seen any this year. I thought they were great, esp. for kids with lactose/nut allergies.
I don't want her thinking that by being vegan she is missing out on anything so I'll go to any lengths to get her things like Easter Eggs and soya desserts - good job hubby works on the mainland though because not a single easter egg on this island is vegan - and I know because I've read all the packages :)
Maybe vegans should have chocolate Easter cubes or Easter pyramids, instead. :)
[come to think of it, Easter rectangles would make this all a lot easier for us to find.;)]
I bought some mini-Divine (the fairtrade eggs) dark chocolate eggs to give to children this year. They "contain traces of milk" which will never cease to confuse me. And for myself (because noone else will) I bought a PILE Of montezuma truffles and bars. i went a bit cray. i'll still be munching come summer!
For non-chocolate easter alternatives i've given colouring pictures and pens, and little craft kits to make your own chick before. they're very cute.
OR once when i was a child, my friend's mum had an Easter party. We were allowed to cast our own eggs by melting chocolate into a mould and setting it. then we could stick icing and sweet all over the shell to jazz it up. that was the best easter egg ever. I bet kids would love you forever if you did that.
We got the Kinnerton's ones with a bar of choc.

Man I hope someone buys me one of those Montezuma bad-boys :p
Thanks for that, I've printed that out and will go looking for them next week! :)
Good round-up, Risker!
Hotel Chocolat are doing half eggs with 8 mini gianduja eggs in - 225g £14 and dark chicks (think they might be doing rabbits and other shapes as well) - 85g for a fiver. Probably some other stuff too.
Or you could buy moulds from Lakeland and make them yourself :)
Also, my local wholefood shop are selling Moo Free milk-alternative eggs. They're not very big and I think about a fiver but they're rather cute looking.
Awesome! I think my bf is buying me a moo-free egg (he jolly well better be, I hinted heavily, if an email with a weblink http://www.veganstore.co.uk/mm5/merc...egory_Code=021 saying 'Look, my favourite chocolate in easter egg form, HINT!!' counts as a hint ;) ) but I might buy some for myself :P.

Cheaper price for the Montezuma eggs (but depends on postage):

Or for anyone doing an easter egg hunt, 200 mini foil wrapped eggs for £12.50:

(PS these will be out of date by the time easter arrives, but I tend to not bother about that with things like chocolate!!)
I got some of the Montezuma Mini Eggs with Almond Praline today, thought about saving them for Easter for about 5 minutes and then shared them out at work instead :) They went down really well with my colleagues but I would have preferred the praline to be a bit squidgier.
I just put some of those out at work today, they look yummy!
I ate half a Moo Free egg today, bloody marvellous! :o
You guys are so lucky :( I'm calling all over Calgary trying to find somewhere that sells dairy free Easter chocolate... Those Simpsons ones would be perfect.
Walmart keeps throwing me to different departments. Is it so hard to walk over and take a look? "Automotive"... Seriously?
Aw, good luck Back-Space! :)
Awww. Did you find any in the end?
I'm not sure if you would want to buy easter stuff online but I found these on my (virtual) travels:
http://www.naturalcandystore.com/pro...dy/candy-gifts
http://www.naturalcandystore.com/pro...de-sweet-earth
Then there's this, I'm not sure about shipping to Canada though: http://www.premiumchocolatiers.com/easter-fun-c-21.html
Or same chocolate but they definitely seem to ship to Canada: http://www.chocolate.com/products/easter-eggs/
Thanks :) Some of those look great. I was thinking of having my mom take some home for the family, but I could likely just have the company ship it Ontario for me :)
Walmart was of no help. They sent me to someone else who was foreign and didn't seem to understand what I meant by dairy free... "Yes yes, lots of chocolate" Nothing against them, but it doesn't help us much when we call to ask questions.
And has anyone ever tried any of the chocolates on the sites? Any suggestions? I'm looking for something to send home for the family, but I'm also trying to make veganism look a little more tempting with the meals I cook, treats I send, etc :p

See, I am such a geek that to me the words 'Easter Eggs' makes me think of a hidden bit of content in a computer game or DVD.
