When blood comes into contact with oxygen the iron in it is oxidised and it looks less dark. Don't panic! I'm sure you're fine.
thankyou :)
Mine always looks purple.
I'd only worry if you're royalty because then your blood is supposed to be blue. ;)
Hehehe. :D Would that be weird if Queen Elizabeth's blood was blue.
Imagine if she had a blood transfusion of "normal" blood, it would go purple...oh, hang on, that's your colour Tigerlily...you must have royal blood in your veins! :D
:D Sometime's it's reddish-purple.
Getting to your question, I'm sure if it was unhealthy, the nurse/doctor who took your blood might have said something then and there.Quote:
seanymph
It's supposed to be a dark reddish purpley colour before it is oxidised. Anyway Seanymph, I'm sure they'll let you know soon enough ;)
hmmm lets see
/stabs hand
yep. its red.
:P
You know if I could choose a blood color I might pick green. Maybe saffron....:p
I recently had my blood tested..I remember the nurse came in.
"Your cholesterol level is under 110...what have you been eating?"
"Food" haha
anemia can cause blood to be less than bright red.
"Anemia (American English) or anaemia (Commonwealth English), which literally means "without blood," is a lack of red blood cells and/or hemoglobin. This results in a reduced ability of blood to transfer oxygen to the tissues. Hemoglobin (the oxygen-carrying protein in the red blood cells) has to be present to ensure adequate oxygenation of all body tissues and organs."
because there are less red blood cells in the blood, it will not appear as red to the eye.
are you anemic?
have you gotten the blood test results back yet, if you are anemic, they will tell you.
