UK veganstore christmas shop is now open, see HO HO HO
yes! i've been waiting for their Christmas selection! :D
I recently ordered some t-shirts from the US for boomer, snaffler, and myself online but got a bit of a surprise. After I had placed the order, the delivery charge changed, twice, though I was emailed to let me know. But the biggest  was that upon delivery, I was asked to pay a £45 duty charge ( the shirts only cost £75 ). I contacted the online store ( not named yet as they say they are looking into it ) and was advised that apart from the delivery charge, there are no other costs. When I mentioned the duty charge they said they were unaware of it ??
Ok it was perhaps naive of me to not think about a duty charge, but I would have thought I should have been prewarned that such a charge may apply. Had I been, I may not have placed the order.
I haven't heard anything from the online store for almost a week ?!
Fortunately boomer and snaffler were cool to spread the charge amongst us. I thought I'd share the experience in case anybody was thinking about placing an international order.
Oh and next time, we know to ask somebody to send it as a gift. ;)
Theres vegan hampers & baskets and vegan gifts available to order from Nutties :)
I wasn't going to name the company if the duty issue was resolved but I have not received any contact from vegan action for two weeks now. I'm not posting this asking peeps to not buy from them, their shirts are good, but just to say they could do better. :(Quote:

I've been to their shop many times, the old one and their new, splashier one on the lower east side in NYC around the corner from Teany (Moby's cafe). They have an excellent selection and great customer service. It's owned by 2 vegan sisters. Sells shoes, handbags, wallets, belts, t-shirts, mags, and some vegan chocolates. My hiking boots and every day shoes are bought from there though lately, I've been living in New Balance sneakers.Quote:

I'm glad to see one comment on moo shoes. Just b/c I was curious. I ran across the website and there are quite a few that are just so cute. But they're kind of expensive. Any comments on actual quality ... b/c $70-$90 is kind of on the high side.
I paid around $70 for my shoes from Mooshoes, they are Vegetarian Shoes brand and I"ve had them for about 2 years now and still look decent. I wore them everyday during my pregnancy, they held up great. And my hiking boots are about 2 years old as well, not worn as much but are fantastic. The advantage of buying in the store is that I ended up exchanging the hiking boots since they didn't feel right after getting them home the first time.Quote:

Wonderful thread! I adore shopping online. :) Here is where I get vitamins for my family (they've got great chewable ones for kids).
Freeda
Plus, if you spend $100 or more they offer free shipping. I get about 8 months supply for hubby, me & our two kids for that much, which turns out to be quite cheap overall!
www.rosemaryshealthfoods.co.uk do a lot of Vegan vitamins and supplements - their own and other brands (some NOT Vegan).
They are very reliable, it's easy to find the Vegan supplements on their site, and delivery is cheap and fast. :)
Saw this advertised in the latest copy of 'The Vegetarian' yesterday. Thought it might be of interest. It isn't due to open until April, but if you complete the survey you could win a £100 M&S voucher. Now why anyone would want one of those is anybodys business, but it would be good to have an online cruelty free fashion store. :p

They also have clif & luna bars, ecco bella cosmetics & veglife supplements. I'm sure there's quite a bit more that they carry, too. They have a list of all of the brands they carry on their home page.
Also, the shipping is free on a $50 or more total!
Saw this link on another vegan site and thought it looked like a great place to shop for those hemp shoes, fair trade coffee, organic cleanser etc.. :D

Would anybody be able to link me to somewhere I could get some tough non leather gauntlets (gloves) for handling rescue critters with challanging behavior? I've been using leather gardening gloves/ gauntlets up till now but if I could get hold of a vegan alternative that would be very useful.
