I just got this book earlier this month! I'm so excited to start using it!! Has anyone made something particularly good from this book and recommend it?
I was banking on getting this for Festivus - I had it listed at the highest priority on my Amazon wishlist and still no one bought it for me. Since then, I've been looking for it in bookstores here and it's sold out everywhere! Waaah!
I made the pumpkin crumble cake over Christmas and my wife's deerhunting/fishing grandpa laid claim to an entire plate of them for himself and wouldn't let anyone else have them.
this book is pretty much a NEED for me to have at this point, I'm always walking around with it...
I cooked the Lemony Roast Potatoes last night (to go with a bean and sweet potato chilli) and it went down really well with the dinner guests.
I am making the BBQ seitan and crispy coleslaw sandwiches tonight. I've already prepped everything and the Backyard BBQ sauce tastes great. But, I still have about 4 hours until dinner and can test this recipe out. :(
I made the lemony roasted potatoes yesterday. They were great. We ate a ton of them:)
The BBQ seitan and crispy coleslaw sandwiches was very good. My significant other didn't think the coleslaw sounded like it would be good on a sandwich, but even he loved them. A big hit. Tonight, I'm making the Snobby Joes for the first time.
Red Lentil and Cauliflower Curry = Amazing :D
I'm afraid I won't be able to use mine for the next week or so :(... I'm moving and won't have my appliances or cookware until the 12th. Eat some good veganomicon food for me!
argh it's out of stock at the book depository now!! spose i'll wait til i go usa and see if i can get it there.
Amazon?
The version that's not out yet probably is the "British" one. They did one of VWAV as well, with metric measurements I think (because it's so hard to figure out what how much a cup is ).
that is confusing, i have a jug that has cups on it (just noticed that today :D) and its about 250ml
It seems strange measuring solids like that lol.
OMG - this thread is making me hungry! :D
The chocolate ice cream is good, SO good! so soft and chocolatey. try it! :)
apart from that, I haven't made much from this book, I think... I did make the chickpea cutlets a couple of times (yum!) and the brussel sprouts.
there's still plenty left to try :D
I'm so impressed that people love this book!
I took a look at it with my wife, and we quickly realized that we'd NEVER cook some of the stuff suggested. Who's got baby bok choy lying around? We're never that prepared.
I wish that the book would work for us... but we have a hard time making time to cook something other than pasta and brocolli every other night.
my loan comes through on monday or so, so i think i'll order this from amazon.fr. works out at about £18 with postage (damn that strong euro!) but it's work it cos i can't live without this book!!!
does this title sound Oirish to anyone else - Vegan O'Mican. :o
I made the low fat Banana Bread just now, it tastes lovely, the spices and molasses make it just a little bit different from all the other Banana Breads out there, and it is light and moist - you would never know it had very little fat in it (just a 1/4 of a cup of oil in a 2lb loaf):)

I've been running around all over the place trying to find this and all the bookstores have been sold out - but I finally found a copy today and it was 30% for post-Xmas! :D
Ohhhh Poison Ivy that looks sooooo yummy!!
I got it yesterday. Have only read the introduction so far, though. It looks great. :)
The day before yesterday I went out and bought the ingredients for the "shepherdess pie" then the next day my mum was already cooking it when I got up :p.... Then yesterday night I wrote down the ingredients I needed to make the lasagna mariana with spinach, but by the time I got up she had gone out, got the ingredients and it was already in the oven lol, even though she was complaining that we would never find 1/2 the ingredients when I 1st bought teh book.
Lesson to be learnt: Convert people to veganism through cooking good vegan food, then supply more recipes and they won't be able to resist.
Lesson 2: Get up earlier :p
Oh and they were both great by the way, especially the lasagna :D
It's probably already been posted here but...make the chickpea seitan cutlets with mustard sauce NOW! Trust me!

:D
I made the "Snobby Joes" and the "Chocolate Raspberry Cookies" oh so yummy! The Joes did have something to be snobby about let me tell you!
Andy, does you mum do house calls? I could get in some ingredients for her.
We made the choc chip cookies today which are excellent.
lol... you dont even need ingredients just a list :p, but on second thoughts maybe its just because my cooking was so terrible hehe
VegaNOMNOMNOMNOM.... sounds exactly like me trying to pronounce the bloomin book
I never really cared for the snobby joes. I didn't dislike them, but probably won't make them again. However, the smlove pie was very good. :)
A friend of mine tells me that the moussakka (sp?) is the most ridiculously delicious thing she's ever tasted. I'm going to make it tomorrow night.
that's it. i'm buying the book.
has anyone made the quinoa/ chickpea pilaf? i think i'll make it either tonight or tomorrow night. it looks really good and simple to make.
I haven't tried that yet. I'm thinking I might make the chickpea clutlets tonight. If I can walk away from this computer long enough.:)
