The smarter they are, the more likely they'll shun meat as adults, British researchers contend... As a child's IQ rises, his taste for meat in adulthood declines, a new study suggests....

I always knew I was a supergenius :D
Re: Kids with high IQs grow up to be vegetarian

If that's what it takes..... I know this isn't the best article, but it's good to have something else added to the list :)

Hey, I was born in 1970! As for those "test the nation" tests... I do really well in some (like the shape recognition) and appallingly badly in others!
Re: Kids with high IQs grow up to be vegetarian
Shame a third of the "vegetarians" reported eating chicken or fish
Re: Kids with high IQs grow up to be vegetarian
It's annoying that they've presumed that the reason is that cleverer people go veggie just to be healthy and avoid heart disease. Fair enough, but there's no mention of why vegetarians might want to avoid meat because they are clever enough to see the bigger picture regarding animal suffering/environmental issues etc.. not to mention stand up against the rest of society.
they're finally beginning to understand!

If a third of the more intelligent ones think chicken and fish are vegetarian then the rest must really be idiots.

lol! You know.. I am pretty much an all or nothing person when it comes to this stuff, but I do believe that this is a step in the right direction. I've already brought it up in conversation multiple times :)
Re: Kids with high IQs grow up to be vegetarian
It's interesting that they for a change interpret the test results the way they do - normally, if this was a test about diet/intelligence in favour of the meat eaters), they'd probably have written that not eating meat will damage your intelligence.
Re: Kids with high IQs grow up to be vegetarian
it's annoying that they think smart people choose vegetarianism for its health. did they even consider that maybe smart people choose it because meat eating is immoral?
Re: Kids with high IQs grow up to be vegetarian
Who knows...? Some people do consider it for their health? My main gripe is the factory farming methods not the morality of eating meat. That and having loads of undigested meat sitting in my colon.
I've gone full circle from being Omni (thanks to my dad who thought steak and chips was decent food - then again, he was a manual worker at the time) to Veggie (learning to cook for myself and having older friends who were veggie), back to Omni (different friends and the lack of cheap decent veggie food available in pubs to go with the amount of beer I was drinking at the time) back to what I am now (thanks to Hemlock who's been nicely persistant all the time she's been vegan without shoving it down my throat :D)
As with most surveys you have to look at who paid for it... that's always the catch ;) the results are always weighted in the direction that company wants and not the actual truth.
Re: Kids with high IQs grow up to be vegetarian
What does a high IQ mean in reality. Not a great deal. I'm sure Tony Blairs IQ is through the roof. He speaks foreign languages, is university educated etc. Then joins Bush to wage war in Iraq.
The report has to be fundamentally flawed anyway. 100 'Veges' who eat fish and chicken? Extraordinary!
