^
My partner said I look about five years younger at the moment! My skin has cleared up and looks younger and fresher. I have no dark rings under my eyes.
That could also be becasue I now sleep like a log! Our cat stayed out last night and I worry so much about her, but went off to sleep. So it was a real surprise to me when I woke up this morning to find my partner had been up and down the stairs all night to see if she was home! I never heard him once.
And he commented on how eerie our room is at night. See, I snore really badly, keeping him awake, who wakes me up etc. But apparently, I am so silent, he's been checking to see if I'm dead! And when we went to bed last night I was in a bad mood because of the cat, and he thought I was ignoring him, when actually I was fast asleep! I can't say being vegan has stopped me snoring, but maybe the veganism has led to the weight loss which maybe has had an effect? Anyway, I don't snore now!!!
Good for you! A sound night's sleep for both of you.
[QUOTE=Prawnil;629958]Not quite
Thanks Prawnil for helping me with my icon problem. Too bad we don't agree about the U.S.
I am surprised about the effect it has on me......... in a spiritual way I have become more sensitive, have come closer to myself
Also, have become more aware of other things and am slowly growing as a vegan, the longer I am vegan (almost 5 months, so not so long yet) the more I am questioning things, the more changes I want to make to my life.
I feel cleaner, in general.
I take a HUGE crap every morning. My farts smell terrible. So far that is about it, but I've only been at it for two months. Sorry if I made anyone gag by reading this.
I expected to lose weight, but after losing 1 kg in the 2nd week, since then nothing. It has been 7 weeks now. From the previous comments, am I right in saying that eventually this will happen, and my body will find its natural weight?
On the plus side, I felt emotional benefits - I was quite depressed, but feel happier now, and more at peace.
I want to be more energetic, so I am going to concentrate on healthy not junk foods..
DavidT, thanks for the little reminder about what this thread is about. :)
I did not mean to offend! I apologize.
I lost weight, I'm not sure how much but enough for people to notice and comment!
^! That's insane! I'm so glad you're better now :)
I have gotten more confident in myself and my choices since becoming vegan. I feel like I can think more clearly.
In October I started training for a sprint triathlon and completed my first one successfully a few weeks ago. You won't find a half starved weak vegan here. Ironman, here I come!
I have also lost 30 pounds, but I attribute that partly to my rigorous training schedule as well as veganism.
Last thing, as a vegan, I can eat like a pig since there are way fewer calories in my huge vegan meals (I make everything fresh, don't use processed pre-made foods) than a piece of steak. Yippee for more food!
That's nice. I am eating the wrong foods. But I knew that... the good ones cost more. :(Quote:

Thanks to veganism... I have found my passion. Did I say that yet?
Also, thanks to veganism, I made a very good friend from whom I have learned much.... why? Because everyone knows I am passionate about veganism, so when a freshman showed up saying she was vegan, my friends called me and told me to come over. :)
I didn't expect that my junk food cravings would absolutely disappear! I am still amazed that I no longer have powerful urges to eat fast food, junk food or sugar. I now find that fresh raw fruits and veggies taste amazing! I didn't realize that I would learn about new foods and recipes that I now adore! Things that used to smell appealing now repulse me.
I was going to wait a long time to post this, I became full vegan 3 days ago. I was never big on eating meats but dairy was another issue and I suffer from chronic sinusitis and stomach issues. Ok so 3 days since I completely gave it all up, I've been able to breathe through both sides of my nose, and I woke up this morning feeling "light" and not bloated and fat! Which is a HUGE deal! I feel so good, I work pt in a daycare and sat there yesterday during the kids lunch going "that milk doesnt look appetizing" and I'm certain its because I feel bad about animal products now (thanks to this forum for opening my eyes!!)
My daughter, who's 4, suffers from chornic sinusitis as well and so while Im not going to completely take dairy away from her (she has to drink it at school right now as shes in pre-k) I AM going to change a lot of her foods to being dairy free. We usually buy soymilk for her anyway as she was going through an "i hate milk" phase and the only thing she would drink was soy milk lol. So anywho, I'll be sure to add more as time goes on, I just wasnt expecting the first day to 3 days that I'd feel good and energetic even!

thats awesome that you are feeling so great after only 3 days!
why does your daughter HAVE to drink it in school? do they force her to?
yeah, maybe you could pack a thermos full of soy milk for her? Esp if the dairy is contributing to her sinus issues.
or they have the little individual soymilks, they are perfect for kids or lunch boxes. I can't imagine the school minding, there are so many people with allergies. Besides she is your daughter and your responsibility you have the right to decide what she eats or drinks.
Now I don't just feel physically better and cleaner, but also mentally I feel more pure and sort of in symbiosis with the earth if you know what I mean :P Something I didn't feel when I was still driving a car and eating meat and stuff.
Gourmandism :)
I'm far more mindful about what I consume, in a way that goes beyond what I eat or issues relating to animal cruelty.
I've begun monitoring the ingredients in my food, skin care, household products, etc, trying to avoid products and substances that either result from exploitation or that may be detrimental to my or my family's* health in the long run. I really believe that the mindfulness required to live a vegan lifestyle brought about these other changes in my life.
*My long-term non-husband, our feline overlord and myself. I count it as family!
Thanks for the suggestions, She doesnt get offered anything but milk right now because they don't go by the same lunch menu as the older kids, its a half day program. In Sept when she starts Kindergarten I do plan on packing her lunch every day! It will get expensive but I know it's the only way to make sure she's eating mostly Organic foods as well (I prefer organic, tastes better lol)
I'm not sure why, but I've lost 4 lbs in 4 days? I've been struggling with my weight since my pregnancy with my daugther, I gained 100lbs!! Lost 50 then got pregnant with my son and gained 50 back Im down 70 now but it stopped when our son passed away 2 years ago and Ive tried everything so this is a pleasant surprise, although in high school I went veggie and quite some time and dropped 40lbs lol
:( sorry to hear about your son.
I'm sorry for your loss, CarrieBerry.
Thank you!
And on another note, today is day 5 for me and WOW!!!!!!!!!! I feel even better! Ok so my bosses daughter tried getting me to eat a choc. chip cookie from subway, and i didnt even WANT it!! I didnt even have a craving for it so I kept telling her no thank you and she goes "ill put it down right here in front of you" like HELLO! WHY would you do that? it was completely rude to assume Im weak and would eat it! I feel so good that the thought of eating that cookie made me cringe!!
Im noticing that my attention to detail is already starting to come through vividly as well! I feel just wonderful and went grocery shopping last night and honestly i thought buying actual vegan foods would kill my wallet and guess what? IT DIDNT! my husband could NOT believe all the foods I got for a little less than what i normally would spend on half the amount even shopping at aldi's and I went to the grocery store and into the section with the organics and gluten free and dairy free and vegan foods and spent less.........it felt soo good! Lots of raw foods in my house now too lol
ok im rambling so ill stop, i just feel so good i started blogging about it too haha!

After one month vegan now I definately feel different in many positive ways; clearer skin with more colour in my face instead of how pale I used to look, clearer mind and better concentration, calmer in general, and happier. Its amazing what a guilt free lifestyle can do for you physically and mentally.
A 30" waist at 30, so I found out the other week :)
Has anyone else noticed this as well? fter I eat ANYTHING now, my stomach doesnt bloat from here to kingdom come! I never feel heavy and weighed down and I love it! Im also finding as others have stated that even the thought of consuming an animal product or byproduct sends guilt right through me and im also trying a LOT of different things I never wouldve tried before :) Loving it still
^ Yes, I've found that as well, though if I eat anything with wheat, I do get quite bloated, so I avoid it.
I've been vegan for nearly five months, and I've noticed a huge increase in energy, as well as general health etc. I also feel a lot calmer, and more in tune with nature and my spiritual self. I have always loved nature, however when I go outside now, everything -- no mater how cloudy or miserable -- just seems so much more beautiful. The horses and cows near my house come over more often to say hello, and are comfortable in my presence. To me, that is priceless.
I think veganism resulted to my being flexible and energetic. After my first month being vegan even though i wake up during 5 AM for school i feel that i'm in a good mood and i feel fresh. I usually say "Good morning star shine the Earth says, Hello". I feel good and i don't find it hard moving around like before, ifeel that i can do a lot of things. :)
Enjoying the confusion on peoples faces when you say you're vegan, its always priceless
I'm sure i've said this before, but to me it's that feeling of working towards a better future that feels so good, and knowing that i'm part of a progressive movement.
I can still remember the feeling of absolute freedom I felt when I became vegan.
