Re: Favorite breakfast food?
I just bought 3 locally made jams (well local to where I was), yesterday at a roadside fruit stand. I am looking forward to trying them out on English Muffins and fresh toast!!
Lately I have been addicted to Chestnut spread for breakfast though. Mmmmmm!

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
i love locally made jams!
my dad used to take me berry picking when i was a kid in new zealand, and then go home and make heaps of strawberry and rasberry jam for the winter..but we always finnished it all well before winter began!

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
I usually just have a big bowl of Suma organic museli with sunflower seeds, chopped dates and a load of other nice things. I have it with soya milk. I really eat a lot of muesli, must be nearly 2kg a week of the stuff.

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
I really love Norganics Apple and cinnamon Crunchola!!! yummy and so addictive.
I have it mixed with a weightwatchers apricot fruit pack, and it tastes so divine!
i also like to have prunes on the side. I like having things like prunes at breakfast, so you can just sit down and enjoy the taste becoz otherwise its a waste to eat things like prunes during the day if ya cant concentrate on how good they are:D
I also love mini wheats.

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
I have to eat porrige and I don't like it but I've been mixing tinned mango with it and that makes it nice. Banana would be good too.
When it's cooked I put sunflower and linseeds in it and some maple syrup. Finally it is edible and delicious.
I aslo really like King Land soy yoghurt, the apricot is my favourite.
Pancakes with ice cream, maple syrup and a tart berry compote or coulis is the best breakfast in the universe.

Why do you HAVE to eat it Adam?? I decided i dont like porrige much. so i dont eat it often. But when i do have it, i like to mix chopped dred apricots and nutrisweet in. **yummy** :D

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
What are you doing still up????!!!!
:D
I have terrible anxiety which is about 75% controllable through diet, and the bestest thing to eat first thing is porrige as it lines the stomach preventing the shrinking which triggers anxiety (in me :o )
-
Re: Favorite breakfast food?
Well PARDON ME!!! I'll be sure to ask you next time im up after 10:00 !!!!!:D
ahem, anywho.......thanks for that bit of late night education about anxiety. I have to say, it would truely suck to have to eat something you hate. I used to NEVER and i mean NEVER drink ANY water:eek: but then i got healthy and now i drink lots. I'm sure there was a point to this post, but i cant remember it now;) :D

Re: Favorite breakfast food?

Thats what happens when you don't sleep, you have to call your sister 'thingo' :D

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
Scrambled tofu on wholemeal toast since some kind soul on here taught be how to make it. Yum. ;)
-
Re: Favorite breakfast food?
If i could be at all bothered, or if i could even cook a mildly good meal, i am sure that i would always have blueberry pancakes with sogood vanilla icecream and maple syrup. Yes, i think so. But since i cannot do this, or be bothered, i will wait until i move to the UK in about 5 years and i will go out to a good vegan breakfast place and order one.
I would also love to have a whole box of vegan poptarts to myself when they are invented

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
EVERYONE STOP TALKING ABOUT PANCAKES! :D

Re: Favorite breakfast food?

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
other than pancakes....
and waffles....just got a new waffel iorn from my marm! :D
i make smoothies for breakfast with fresh fruit...
im not a fruit person ...its wierd...just dont dig fruit like i do veggies...
so i figure that since i like smoothies, i may as well just chop up my 3 servings of fruit and eat it in a breakfast smoothie with some protien powder.
yay for blenders...the best creation since vegan sour cream....lol. :D

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
I'm on a banana soy smoothie kick at the moment. Very very tasty.
I quite like the sound of the scrambled tofu recipe on post punk kitchen though.

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
This is tough. I love smoothies, egg-less french toast, Optimum Zen cereal, and cinnamon toast with Earth Balance almost all equally, and usually have a combination of two of those items.

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
When we have a party at the house we have a proper huge cooked breakfast the morning after. Normally this includes:
Baked beans
Fried potatoes
Grilled tomatoes
Fried mushrooms
Fried onions
Fried or baked vegan sausages
Toast
This is one of my favourite breakfasts though I don't have it more than 2 or 3 times a year :)
-
Re: Favorite breakfast food?
All of the above list (appart from baked beans which are devils spawn), but more than 3 times a year and with some scrambled tofu on the toast and some fried potato cakes :D
They had wicked big fried vegan breakfasts at a festival I went to about a month ago, i spent far far too much money on food that weekend :)

mmmmm french toast, cinnamon toast! yummo:p i love cinnaomn anything. and french anything, LOL:D
I remember the last time a tried to make french toast, ahhh the pain. I forgot how to work the grill part of the oven, so i ended up eating slopping wet bread soaked in soymilk and cinnamon:( but it was tasty, nonetheless.:D
Vegan Maple French toast Casserole (yummy, but baaad)
butter 4 slices of bread with earth balance. grill until golden brown on both sides. cover each slice in maple sypup. Blend 6 2/3 Tbs egg replacer or ground flaxseeds with 1 c soy milk (vanilla or original) or soy creamer). Pour 1/3 egg mixture in bottom of greased casserole dish. Place 2 slices of prepared toast side by side on top of mixture in dish. Top with 1/3 egg mixture. Top with remailning 2 slices side by side. Top with remaining egg mixture. Bake uncovered ~30 min. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top. Serve with maple dipped soysauges :o

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
MMMM! Maple Syrup Soysages are the BEST! I cook them as usual and in the last minute, I pour a bit of maple syrup over them and sear in the sweet goodness...it makes them quite juicy and sweet!

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
cc, when you make congee what kind of rice do you use? also, i have these rice flakes i bought a while ago to make porridge with. do these even have any nutritional benefit? i assume congee is much healthier (although its the same thing i think, the rice flakes are just flat peices of rice)
-
Re: Favorite breakfast food?
Well, I use short grain or long grain brown rice, basmati, jasmine... any unhulled rice really!
The rice flakes are processed, "milled" and I would venture to say that whole, natural grains are best! The rice flakes we have here are not as high in fiber or nutrients as whole, unprocessed rice...I bet they make a tasty porridge though!
Just remember, when it comes to nutritional value, whole, natural, unprocessed is best ;)

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
I bought some puffed wheat cereal, 100% whole wheat it says. Pretty good. And at only 59calories per bowl compared to 150+cals with other cereals, it's good and filling and lets me have some more fruit or higher cal morning snacks.

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
My favourite breakfast is a bowl of mixed fresh fruits, with some LSA sprinkled on top, plus a teaspoon of tahini, and moistened with soymilk.
-
Re: Favorite breakfast food?
my favorite breakfast (god i dont know how many times ive posted in this thread lol) is definately SMOOTHIES! any mix of strawberries, peaches, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, mangoes, mmmm w/ soymilk and oj and hemp oil :D

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
Afer some careful thinking, i have decided what is my fave. A HUGE bowl of crunchola with vanilla soy milk. nuthin beats it.
But its really high in calories so thats a bit depressing.
I love avacado on toast.
weet-bix with kiwi fruit and soy milk is quite yummy too.
im luvin peanut butter on toast too, but i never eat it.
and i think if im ever off my head, ill try maple syrup sausages:p

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
Well, I suck big-time at making breakfast (I like my sleep waaay to much) so I usually just have two pieces of hard-bread (they sell it at IKEA I'm sure if you don't live in sweden) and cocoa made on oat-milk. Hard-bread's packed with fibre so it keeps you full for a while.
It gets a bit dull after a while though so now since I've heard so many good things about smoothies, why not? :D
Do I understand the nature of smoothies right if I say it's fruits and soymilk mixed together in a blender? :p *is going to shop for nice fruits tomorrow*
-
Re: Favorite breakfast food?
smoothies, i've learned, work better with frozen fruits. makes it thick and frosty like a shake. Or just use a frozen banana and the rest fresh fruits :)
My favorite- chocolate soymilk, frozen banana, and strawberries (+ some ground flaxseeds) yummy.

Re: Favorite breakfast food?
Great, I'll remember that then ;)

Breakfast?
I'm too lazy to see if there are any other threads. :o
I need something to eat in the morning that is quick but it has to be gluten free as well.
I never know what to have other than fruit and it gets boring just eating fruit everyday.
Oo I am rubbish at starting topics i must say. :p
Please and thank you.
